ProjectMayhem
Hi everyone, 1st post here... Anyways, we're a new team considering a few cars, of which one is a hatchback. We would want to install a fuel cell and know that this must be sealed off. How sealed off does this need to be? If we were mounting in a way that we would just need a top access panel, what can we do to seal it off, while still having the ability to access when needed? I know there's the firebarrier stuff in the caulking tube, but that's fairly permanent. If we want an access "hatch" for service reasons, what do we do? IPF Racing
I have a riveted in panel that I can drill out to get to everything on top of the cell or if I remove my tail light I can get to it all from outside. It does need to be extremely sealed off based on the rule update for 2019.
DRVOLKS
Mine is in a box for the fuel cell and seal with foam and metal tape. I make the top in 2 pieces so I can get to the fuel pumps and surge tank fast.
hcsi99
We put our cell in a 1 inch by inch square tube frame and then covered the frame, top, and filler.

That looks awesome. I found the Radium stuff, how do you like it? Seems like it's pretty turnkey? Run 12v to the pumps, plumb up the lines, call it a day. They are also always developing new products too. I'll be upgrading to there new discriminator vent and adding an overflow that exits externally into a catch container. Bremsen
Our cell was already sunken into the floor so we built a box over the top of the frame to enclose the cell plate/hoses/pumps/surge. I'll post pics of ours when its finished (hopefully sometime this/next week).
