The T5s don't hold up, we broke a lot of them. We switched to Muncies which hold up well, but have had some problems with cracked cases. The Saginaw was always are backup. It's heavy but reliable. We have run this car with a variety of 350 engines with horsepower ranging from 200 to 470. the higher the HP the more things will break. The current engine is a good fit. I would be interested in your weight saving suggestions as would any future owners.

we run a pretty stout 305. You need to take the doors down to the skins. You'll save 30lbs each, especially if the crash bars are still in there. (and I see they are). If the hood is not "skinned" that too is about 30lbs. Ours is a piece of sheet metal now. All the inner structure in the B pillars can come out as well as any extra hood reinforcement, although with the cage in that wlil be hard.

Tired Birds what does your current car weigh?

not sure our white car got wrecked currently working on another. I'm guessing with cage and gas it was under 3k.  A plasma cutter is your friend.  I can tell you the weight in the hood and doors is significant. I think we took about 57lbs from behind the doors back.  the whiite car was a T-top car so removing the factory T-brace saved weight. The new car is a hard top. WP_20190824_16_21_54_Pro.thumb.jpg.e54d73f6973f8ab130f22ae83815ebfb.jpg

Tired Birds , why start from scratch. I can give you a good deal, and it's ready to go.

it has been in the works since we wrecked the other. This was our "spare car" All the suspension and drive-line are already transferred.  Just waiting for our buddies garage to be finished so he can drop the cage in and finish up so odds and ends. . Otherwise I would have bought another by now. There have been a few nice F-body's that have come up for sale. I REALLY want to do Daytona this year so if this isn't ready I might just buy another and go...
