Administrators Bill Strong Posted January 9, 2020 Administrators Report Share Posted January 9, 2020 Our NCM event has been cancelled At 9:30am this morning, NCM management called Mike Morrison to let him know their track had been closed until April 13th. The track had been committed to hosting all upcoming events, but in a meeting yesterday between the Mayor of Bowling Green and the Governor of Kentucky it was made known that NCM was still open and hosting events. The Governor said no and instructed all motorsport facilities to shut down for the next few weeks. Without a track to race on, we can't hold our event. We are frustrated that our event has been cancelled and we know you are too. We all needed this break from everyday life to get some fun racing in our lives. Your next question is probably about the money you had paid in for this event. ChampCar will issue a full refund or move your paid fees to another event. Just email Mike Morrison or Mike Chisek and let us know what you would like us to do with your fees. If we don't hear from you, your fees will be credited to your account. We look forward to life getting back to normal and seeing everyone at a race track later this year. Make your car quiet. Cars without a muffler WILL fail sound and will be black flagged. Mufflers. Yes. That subject, again.Did you know that NCM Motorsports Park has sound limits?NCM will be using our 96 DBa limit for the event. 96dba? It's the level that is in our 2020 BCCR.So what does that mean?It means that you have to have mufflers on your race car. If you show up with a glass pack, you will most likely fail. If you show up with a straight through racing exhaust, you will fail.Put mufflers on the car. The best way to look at this subject is to build your car like you are going to Laguna Seca. You will most likely pass. Review the Laguna Seca ChampCar flyer. It means that you have to have mufflers on your race car. If you show up with a glass pack, you will most likely fail. If you show up with a straight-through racing exhaust, you will fail. I think at NCM you point the muffler outlet to the right as the sound meters are on the left. But that's just from what I remember. I could be wrong. _________________________________NCM Test day. $300 - $350 NCM Test Day ChampCar March 20 $300 – $350 NCM Hosted Test Day for ChampCar will take place on Friday, June 14th prior to the ChampCar Endurance Series. theblue
is the noise rules a big concern? We have one 3" muffler with a turndown under the car. never had issues at other tracks but a little concerned for this one based on the sups
enginerd
4 hours ago, theblue said: we are excited to try this event for the first time. Anybody have advice specific to this track / event for us? Research the lines and watch expert video. The track has a lot of elevation change and there are crests and off-camber sections mid corner which affect where the optimal line is. Basically, if you look at a 2d map and plan your lines you will be wrong. Some of the corners are deceptively fast and you can lose a lot of time by not knowing how fast you can go from the start. It’s a fantastic track. Wonderful viewing from the rooftop. Bring a camera.
Technical Advisory Committee Andrew D Johnson Posted January 10, 2020 Technical Advisory Committee Report Share Posted January 10, 2020 Don't run the sink hole WOT in a RWD on lap 1 unless you want an exciting ride. If you have FWD, run the sinkhole WOT.
jakks
Only track I’ve been on where I felt the slightest bit of a rolling stomach. Took me about 30 minutes to fight it off. Definitely have a plan of action in case your drivers get sick.

Anybody have advice specific to this track / event for us? “Deception” is deceiving (turn 12?). Three offs (four off on a asphalt run off) in three laps got me a black flag. The third off was the black flangers fault. The frantically waving flag scared me. Great track. Underrated. hotchkis23
On the back before you come back around to the sink hole, by mid race, I believe I saw at least 4 dead turtles, a muskrat/opposum, and various other critters. If you are an animal lover, this track may not be for you. Track is a lot of fun, has some busy sections, has some high speed pucker sections, a lot of off camber and as Nate said above, 2d lines don't tend to hold up. Watch a lot of video, interested to see what the track will be like if we get wet weather, only driven it when its been super hot!! Also, unless they finally have changed it, there is no power in the pits so plan on a generator. Also, other than the gap at pit out and the middle of pit row, there isn't a gap in the fence so bring a ladder/stack of tires, or walk a good distance to get to back to the paddock. Hopefully we can break our curse of bad luck at this track and have two clean days for both cars.

At the Champcar race last summer, on that same section of track, I was following a little white car through there when a turkey erupted off of the asphalt. That neon, or miata, or whatever it was, must have only missed that thing by inches.

MichaelPal
Bulldog racing is excited for this race. I've driven this track once during the 2018 championship. The team I was driving for had the cool suit system die on Saturday, therefore I almost died of heat exhaustion due to the Kentucky murder sun. I'm looking forward to running this race in march. when I drove it, it took me a long time to differentiate turn 5 and turn 16. The approach is similar but the exit is very different. Just need to talk myself through each lap. If if any other e30 team would like to pit together, PM me. We can coordinate spares and knowledge. Philip944
Any word if there is going to be a Test Day on Friday before the race weekend? The Sups say test and tune information coming soon but hadn't heard anything yet. Feel free to tell me if I'm simply being too inpatient. We've got a new build and are struggling to find any nearby events in the spring to test. Thanks

IPF Racing
Absolutely loved this track last year despite our issues. Its crazy fast but has tight technical stuff like 10.... 10 can eat me..... but I love it. If you play it in Assetto Corsa, its fairly accurate. Also for anybody looking to stay at the track, the facilities are pretty nice and in the pits, realize you've got a long way to move your stuff to pit lane. IPF will have the nacho cheese machine and a heated trailer if anybody wants a fun pit partner
