Radio interference from USB chargers?

Recommended Posts

While looking for some USB chargers for my car I noticed that the airplane community (and general radio nerds) has issues with USB chargers causing noise on their VHF radios. So there are certain models that are much better than others, the FCC rating seems to do little.

Is this a concern for us? Or it doesn't matter since we are running UHF? Or  our cars has so much interference so a USB charger wouldn't make a difference?

Something to think about is cable routing.  Power cables should never be run "in line" with anything radio/antenna or they can pick up interferance.  Make sure your headset/external antenna wiring never runs side by side anything with power.  They can cross, just don't pair them.
