BMW's eliminating EWS?

For those with BMW's with EWS how are you dealing with it? I rather not keeo it as it is one of those things that could ruin a weekend, and plan on eliminating the use of the key anyhow.

So far it seems like the choices are: just keep it, program it out of the DME, or just go aftermarket ECU.

Hmmm, the cost of paying a tuner to remove EWS makes me think for not too much more I might just go aftermarket ECU. Might just move it up in priority. That and one of them fancy digital displays.

In the meantime, maybe I'll tinker with the stuff on RomRaider and see if I have any success (or just brick the whole thing, haha). Going to be getting miserable hot for a few months here in Phoenix anyhow, so my garage time will be more limited.

Thanks for the suggestions!

If this is an E46, you'll likely need to disconnect the EWS module and create a jumper for the starter wire that's on the EWS connector.

I'd suggest picking up a spare ECU to play with.  You can use the MS4x flash tool to flash the new ROM (https://www.ms4x.net/index.php?title=Flashing_Tools).  You can also flash the ecu outside of the car with 12v power supply and a cable.
