FYI, nominations for the next round of board seats are currently being accepted.  Details should be in your email (email posted below).

The terms for Michael Chisek (President) #000498, Tiffany Alexander #005772, and Richard Sainato #001155 end on December 31st of this year. Their seats are the ones up for re-election and when filled will serve until December 31st, 2023. Michael Chisek, Tiffany Alexander, and Richard Sainato are eligible to run again and can be nominated like any other member.

Go to this link and fill out your name and member number.  Then at the bottom, fill out the name and member number of the person you'd like to nominate to the Board of Directors.  Keep in mind that we will contact each nominee to make sure they are OK with being a candidate.  Simple rules:
1.  You can't nominate yourself.
2.  You can only nominate one person.

All nominations are due by October 16th.  To keep from having 574 different nominees, a nominee must be named by at least five members to qualify.  We will compile all the nominations and put the top ten nominees on the November 1st ballot.  Elections are over on December 1st, 2020. We will announce the winners on December 15th, 2020, and the three winners will take office January 1, 2021.

Please contact me with any questions and comments here.

All the best -
Mike

@mcoppola....

You interested?

Who else is interested?  Post up please!

I’m considering throwing my white BMW hat in the ring...

Among other things, I have been disappointed with how the tech desk has functioned this year... it was supposed to (I thought) end all the secret freebies that were out there, and while it has done that, it ended them by publishing the freebies and adding a whole lot more!!!

Does the BOD have oversight here? Maybe, maybe not, but I don’t like it and maybe could do something about it.

Also, I think what ChampCar has is unique and should be preserved and improved. I was very alarmed at the “Rich-car” idea, did not like that at all (but pleased that it didn’t get traction with the rest of the board).

In the end I don’t know how I would fit in to the board... Tyler has marketing... Jerry cooks the books (I mean Jerry is the accountant)... what would my superpower be? Idk.

Put me down as “considering a run for a seat on the board”.

I'd consider nominating you if I hadn't already nominated someone.

That being said, there may already be "enough" E30 owners on the board.

@Bill Strong could we get a rolling tally of nominations somewhere?  So we know who's in the running to be running.

Assume 1 is enough? And 2 is too many?

@wvumtnbkrI'm interested but not 100% sure about a board position. I appreciate yours’ and others’ consideration!
I really enjoy my current role working on the TAC with a great group of guys. I feel the group is really starting to hit their stride, and with a supportive BOD (which we have now and hope to expand on that) we can keep ChampCar true to its roots.

I see, and have heard from, some fine candidates that I would be willing to support, and would look forward to working with. Thanks!

Well if Nate and Huggy both make it in, we'd be at 4, which might be too many, not sure.

Or would it be 4.5 since Huggy has 2, and one of the others is half honda now hahaha.

that's an issue.  Not saying that they would be out looking for their own platform interest, but you need outside perspectives from just one platform.  Having run a 300ZX, Mazda 626, and a V8 Mustang as well as being a huge Mopar guy,  I think that gives me more of a different perspective on some things and how a sweeping rule change would effect more than just a E30.

I am going to run again this year. My membership number is 014806. I think I'm over the five necessary but the more the better.

I believe in rules stability.

I believe in limitation or no more free parts.

I believe in a balanced VPI table.

I believe in limiting larger fuel tanks.

I believe in transparency.

I believe in a rule book big enough to allow for complete understanding of the rules.

I believe in direct communication with members.

I believe in across the board tech regulations are adhered to everyone.

I believe in supporting all classes through third place in each class.

I believe in putting a little bit of ChumpCar back into ChampCar!

Looking forward to chatting with everyone over the next month or so & Thanks for your support. Bernie Myers 014806

I have been encouraged to run for the board and said that I would if nominated.   I co-drive the Hounddogs BMW, and with Autobody Specialists RX-7.  Former owner of a Nissan race truck, and yes, I am working on a Fiero.  After 40+ years in SCCA, I had had enough of the lack of responsiveness to members.  The club I joined left me.  I see Champcar at a point where it could start down a similar path and want to see it survive and thrive as a "cost-effective" racing series.  My posts in the forum should outline my concerns for this series, but in general:

1) Don't screw up what is good and let those that have built cars race them as is

2) Clean up the rule book and make enforcement consistent for new teams, old teams, well funded teams, shoestring budget teams.

3) Control (stop) "free stuff" and get a handle on speed creep and "tortured interpretations" of rules to get more free stuff

4) Continue to race for the overall win, but also change the groups to allow those that consider value a class win to have a goal.  I think this needs to include some sort of "limited prep" consideration for those that wish to race with us but not go as far as current rules allow (or wish to keep their cars in a configuration for another series) - see #1 above!

5) Consider some means to address fuel capacity via points.  If we can address every other deficiency in a platform with points, we can certainly do this with fuel.

Rules need to be policed as they are written in the rule book. 8 contact points seems pretty simple. With the allowed driver-foot box bars that number should now be 10. If a rule becomes outdated it still needs to be enforced as it is written until it is changed in the rule book. Bolt in cages are allowed if done safely was someone denied entry because of a bolt in cage?

Tech should understand what the rule is "Intended" to mean and stick to it and not let someone compete in an Illegal car because they talked Tech into letting the car be legal.

When I took over our local Friday night stock car races we reworded the rule book, trusted tech to do it's job fairly to everyone, disqualified anyone that was not legal including past Champions and others that have been running illegal for years and after a few weeks the car count went up because the rules were being enforced. And free parts are  a disease.

I'm not sure where the weakest link is currently within the ChampCar organization but changes are necessary.

If you aren't sure the root of the issue, then i'm not sure you have my support.
