jim161c
Looking for advise on tire size for a 1990 E30 track car. Any suggestions on size and brand would be appreciated. Thanks!
collinskl1
I think the most common answer you'll get here is 225/45R15 or 245/40R15 Hankook RS4. There may be a few teams running a 205 section width Bridgestone RE71R, but I think they're the minority.

atxe30
Phil's Tire Service does have the e30 specific JRW 15x10's in stock I believe as well: https://philstireservice.com/shop/jrw-series-500-15x10-bmw-e30/ Edit to add: pretty sure this is the only place you can get them..... jim161c
Collins do you know if spacers are required to run the 225/45R15 or 245/40R15. I assume the 10" rim is required as well? Thanks for your assistance.
collinskl1
I can't answer that question, I'm just a tire nerd.
jakks
Spacers is dependent on too many factors. Offset and strut tube straightness to name two. 225 on Tire Rack C1 8” wheel is unlikely to need one if you haven’t done any crazy things with alignment. 10” wheels from JB will need spacers. Use an offset calculator to give you an idea
wvumtnbkr
@E. Tyler Pedersen. I don't believe Tyler runs spacers on his e30 with 10 inch wide wheels. I do know the fenders have been HEAVILY massaged.
TimS
I’m running 225 on 15x9” wheel 20mm offset no spacers. Slight fender tweaks. I’m thinking of trying 245 on the 9” rims once I burn up my used 225’s. Hankook rs4 tires

TimS
I’m using the TR wheel 15x9(-20). Tire Rack wheel brand. Car came with 6 and I bought 4 from Tyler when he went to the 10” wheel. There are several other brands out there that would work. Early 4 lug Miata wheels are same offset I believe.
agent
I wasn't aware those came in a 9" width. I bought a set a few months ago and the widest option I was offered was 8".
jim161c
Thanks to all for the intel. The knowledge level and shared information is incredible on this forum. Real Racers reside here for sure. I wish I would have left karting 10 years ago and starting racing Chump/Champ series.
TimS
I didn't purchase the wheels myself and may have been bought several years earlier. Tough to search wheels on tire rack by size and offset.

I bought the 9" width specifically to use with either 225 or 245.

We ran them on our E30 for past 3 seasons. 245 Hankook RS4 stretched on there real nice. Awesome performance. Edited December 15, 2020 by Shane G. We just purchased from Phils, 2 sets of 15x9 Joengbloods with custom E30 offset, no spacers required. He could order more if he gets the demand.
jim161c
Hey Shane - I would like to buy the 6 wheels if you still have them. Pease text me @nine-zero-four-524-0171 Thanks Jim
LeBrun
@jakks, I see above you say the Jongbloeds need a spacer. Are they really building a custom offset that isn't a direct bolt on? How much extra spacer do you need?
