Scott
Mine need replaced. $100 for the pair - yikes. Curious if anyone has experience simply not running them. I've heard tell of factory race cars removing them, but I'm concerned about water or dirt intrusion during off course excursions. I suppose they could always be used for ducting too, though I haven't been as concerned about needing the cooling for rear brakes. 55mini
Toss them or take them off and reuse the metal for other parts. We removed them on all four corners a long time back and if you need ducting there are much better options for that function.
Gkuhn41
Brakes have dust shields?
ross2004
Just some info no one asked for: a friend of mine had the front dust shield on one side of his E30 and not the other (why, I have no idea). We took rotor temps at a track day at VIR, the side with the dust shield was 150* hotter.
LuckyKid
For posterity: If you are running splitter ramps, you WILL need a shield blocking the inside rotor face or it will overcool. Also make sure any ducts are focused at the rotor center, not the rotor face. I know it has nothing to do with the rear, but I figured it would be worth posting if someone is ever researching this.
