The car is local to me but was inspected 1500 miles away.

You want a answer to why yesterday not today, no clue, did you get to attend?

Was as much a statement as a question. Seems odd since they apparently went over the cars closely yesterday. So far as measuring fuel cells, pics of pistons, protest for coils, etc.

Would have only been able to be there for a few hours so wasn't worth the 6 hour round trip.

Tuttle got dqd for a fuel pump out that pumped out too much fuel.

Champcar said fuel cells were all legal in s aturday night.

Apparently, not legal on s unday night....

Thats because people in the pits saw him put 4 five gallon Hunsaker fuel jugs into his car on Sunday. So a team protested his fuel capacity and won. Plain and simple

I could have sworn I heard on the stream that Dana said "three teams".

Correct 2 different teams protested the 108 car. Ben Schaut of Bavarian Mustache. Ron of Visceral protested #108  And CYR protested #107

Was legal yesterday but not today?

Cells were measured yesterday, by the dimensions that were found they were questioned, told they had blocks inside.  Took that as valid yesterday, today two teams videotaped them putting in fuel and took pics of the cans before they went into the car.  Yes, three protests were filed, 2 for 108 and 1 for 107, the team explained that both cars were identically built, so they only did the pump out/capacity check on the 108.  After removing all fuel from the cell, the team provided 3 fuel cans with 4 gallons, stating that was all they had left.  Champ staff too the other empty cans and filled them with fuel from the track and then continued to add it to the cell.  At one point, when the 18ish gallons went in it was decided to pull off the filler neck from the fuel cell and actually inspect the level in the tank.  They were able to add up to 20.5 gallons total before it reached the top.  So over the +2 capacity.  There were three board members attending the race and a lengthy discussion was had, as to be assumed lots of colorful language was hurled, but a decision was made.

Regardless of how and who this happened to, I really appreciate that staff listened to membership and checked this out.  There were things on the first day with both cars that were issues, discussed and removed before the start of today as well.

Outside of the 1.5hr impounds, this was a great event like always.  Everyone on track was courteous(mostly), a lot of point byes were given, and everyone seemed to have a smile on their face.  It was really nice to get back out and race with everyone, and we could not have asked for nicer weather!

Thanks for the info. Pretty much clears that up with no other options other than a DQ.

Even Smokey said big fuel tanks, along with big engines, were just chickenshit. That's not being creative at all.

Agreed, the rule is written as +2, and they were way over.  Staff was going to let them be 19 as a .1 difference in their eyes(I agree) is too nit picky.

What is interesting to me is with the pace they could run flat out with their pro driver(really pro) I think they could have been legal on capacity and just had him drive his 2 hrs(fuel and continue) then sit for an hour and maybe won the thing anyway...well, if they had brought enough tires....

By any chance do you know how many sets they used for both days?
