going to try. I think I have the budget.

I wish the bigger Champcar realized that this is a cool little thing we like. Seems like it could be a great plug for some affordable watch company.

What makes you think we don't realize it?

Real trick is to convince an affordable watch company its a cool thing to be involved with Champcar.  Tough to convince companies to support any type of motorsport.  I'm constantly amazed at the series and race sponsors Champcar has developed.  I try support them when I can and I hope the other members do the same.  Keep up the good work.

You mean a batch of these aren't earmarked to be ChampCar awards at this year's race?

Actually, we're going to try something new this year. Bill will be wearing the special awards, things like watches, rings, wallets, etc. The first person to knock him down and take them, gets to keep them. If he fights back, it's all just part of the fun!

Enjoy!

Any update to the spectators situation especially considering they've eliminated all restrictions in VA back in May? If not, any anticipation to an update? With everything opened back up it would be nice to re-evaluate the stance on this policy.

No idea. We worked two races last weekend, and we have two more to work before then. Once we have some of this behind us we'll get things updated about VIR.

Page 2 wasnt in the update but now appears back. So we CANT have spectators?

Well thats stupid. Is this VIR policy or champ?

Have to be members and added to your crew list has been the work around. They don’t have to actually crew for you.

I was speaking on ChampCar policy in general, nothing specific to VIR, which I know nothing about.

Per policy, ChampCar is not a spectator series. If we were, the insurance and rental would be higher. (According to Dana)

Do you have a reference for where this policy is listed? Champ has allowed spectators at other events; the supps for upcoming Nelson ledges explicitly states spectators are allowed. VIR has other events they're allowing spectators for. So there's a disconnect somewhere in either communication or application of this policy. Further, spectators have been allowed every year prior to last.  I understand why they went to making everyone register last year (COVID) and it was smart and I'm thankful they did it so we could race.

I swear I'm not going insane but that page was not in supps when Bill said he updated them; now it appears to be back. Bill, can you confirm? I'm thinking/hoping Dana/Bill just haven't gotten around to addressing this and will update when they have an update.

Edit: I -JUST- checked the supps again, and that page is again, gone.

I'm chalking it up to insanity.

That's what we did last year. My sister is local and wanted to come by sat for a couple hours with my 14yo nephew and nieces just to watch for a bit. Having to spend $200 so they can watch a race is a deal breaker.
