Racing with a cracked windshield?

Recommended Posts

We cracked our windshield on Sunday and also lost the trans.  The trans we have figured out, but, can't for the life of us find a company that will replace the windshield this week.  Safelite keeps taking the appointment but then contacting us and saying they can't do it until next week.  Can we start the race with it cracked or are we not able to run if we can't find a replacement?

There are situations where the crack is totally permissible, does it affect vision? compromise strength? one line? big star?

Picture will do wonders for this conversation

I am more than an hour away from the car right now or I would take a picture.  It's one line from the bottom to about 2/3rds of the way up.  You don't notice it at all when you are driving and it is not spidered.

The rulebook says it’s fine unless it compromises vision. I have half a dozen small cracks in our windshield and we’re still running it... replacing the darn things gets expensive when you have a defroster grid installed.

Sounds like I shouldn't be worrying so much.  If it gets fixed, great, if not, sounds like we are good to go.

Assuming the trans works, we will see you guys for the weekend!
