What about flagtronics? Will that be working?

It has been an all out sprint recently with the VIR24 coming up with testing, getting units for sale, and working on our new Sign Boards for corner stations. I'll have to get back to you following the VIR24 regarding our schedule.

Really looking forward to this race, can't wait to see everyone!  I do want to draw attention to an issue I see each race that I'd like addressed-

Children: No children under-18 allowed on pitlane.

Every race weekend there's kids in the paddock/pits running around or riding something across the paddock without supervision, even during the race with cars pitting.  They are playing without any idea that there's moving cars around.  Chasing each other through pit areas too.  I've got young kids and it makes me cringe.  I know that the responsibility falls on the inattentive visiting parent(s) but there's exposure here for CC and the track.  Can it be a talking point to cast some shame upon them during each morning drivers meeting?  If they don't care about their kids maybe they'll care about looking bad.

I love racing Harris Hill with Champ and I'd like to continue doing so, it really needs to be addressed head on before something terrible happens.  Maybe unattended kids (down the hill) after a warning can result in a black flag for the team they are visiting?  It's every race weekend, something will happen eventually.

Thanks for bringing this up.

I totally agree and it's scary to watch.  I would support a strict black flag penalty for teams with kids in the paddock, though it might be hard to enforce ("hey kid, what team is your dad on?").  At a minimum it needs to be addressed at the meetings and maybe CCES pit staff can be more attentive to it (I know they already have lots to do but this is important.

I don't even bring my kids to the races as it's just not the safest place during a race (they do go to the track with me often and have even driven on track when nobody else on track).

I got many small children that loves to come watch me race, both the CC and other races.

At least for Harris Hill it should be no small kids in paddock or pit lane. I think a 14 year old can be there but not 5 year old. They can be in the club house or at the patio outside.

@Bill Strong could we add this to the rules?

(I am part to blame, I have had family come visit without them knowing how dangerous it is in the pad dock).

edit:
Maybe the rules could be something like, no kids under the age of X at any part of the asphalt unless direct connection to the clubhouse.

So you could park and go into the club house and go to the patio, but not run around at the parking lot outside or at the road connecting to the paddock.

Easier said than done unfortunately because whoever is responsible for the kids has to hang out somewhere other than with their driving family member...plus sometimes the spouse/kids are part of the pit crew.

This is another reason why I leave my family at home besides the fact that race weekend is my weekend away from family responsibilities where I can focus on racing only (how else would we be able to get 12th place if I wasn't completely focused on racing)

Totally agree. But I think the rule might be written for other tracks. For instance the paddock at COTA is very calm, the paddock at Harris Hill is chaos.

I can baby sit and win at Harris Hill, with our cheaty NC it doesn't matter if you miss 10mins of your stint, it's blistering speed will make up for anything.

Is there anything you're worried about in tech?  Anything we can help you with?  Have you driven Harris Hill before?

Just always a question mark arriving at tech it seems. My dad is building the car and I’m a few states away so always some worry there that something will get missed.

Harris hill is actually most of our drivers home track so we should do pretty well if the engine doesn’t blow up (turbo Miata)

Get off track ASAP if it goes south!

I’ll probably stop by and bug you guys. I’ve played with the idea of a low boost setup (ecotec le5 levels) for awhile and even have high quality components and spare bp4w’s on hand, but it becomes a slippery slope and reliability has been really good so far… but it sure would be fun and open up WRL options. Good luck and have fun!

The 10 day forecast is looking splendid, but somehow it’ll rain 2hrs or so. It always does.

So this will be the first time the car goes through tech?  It's not really that bad.

Here's my short list of gotcha's

- make sure the cage welds go all the way around the tubes.  especially at the top near the roof

- make sure no holes in firewalls.  turn off lights in garage and shine flashlight into engine bay.  look inside car to see if any light coming through.  patch or foam up those holes.  Same for fuel area/trunk.

- make sure your belts and window net are not expired

- make sure window net comes forward enough to cross plane of steering wheel (if you don't have a top, then also make sure you have arm restraints)

- make sure you have "stops" on the harness bar that prevents the harness from being able to spread apart.  you can use pieces of roll bar padding

- make sure you have enough roll bar padding everywhere around the driver

- make sure your car shuts off.  hold throttle at 2000 rpm and flip the kill switch.  car should turn off

I'll be in the tech line as well, so come say hi.  We'll be in the red Audi sedan #456
