tr6driver
[blink] *How* steep is the banking at Rockingham?I have a shorter answer. @#$%^@ steep!
xceler8x
I was one of the drivers of the Sanfurd and Son truck. The banking was awesome to flat foot around. It was amazing to feel those G's while looking though the turn by using the upper left corner if the windshield.
Philippe
It was amazing to feel those G's while looking though the turn by using the upper left corner if the windshield.Next time, we really should be allowed to put the tech sticker on the top right side of the windshield! Guest robweenerpi
It was amazing to feel those G's 1.5-1.8g's typically via my traqmate.
Race Control chisek Posted March 17, 2011 Race Control Report Share Posted March 17, 2011 Next time, we really should be allowed to put the tech sticker on the top right side of the windshield! Best place for your tech sticker is on it's side at the top center of your windshield. You'll never see it as you drive!

xceler8x
Next time, we really should be allowed to put the tech sticker on the top right side of the windshield! Lol...I completely agree. You really needed that upper left corner to look through the turn.
Rex
Lol...I completely agree. You really needed that upper left corner to look through the turn. This is also important for those of us that have a high likely-hood of rain, so the windshield wipers aren't hitting the sticker. csadn
Degree of Banking: Turns 1 & 2: 22 degrees Turns 3 & 4: 25 degrees Straightaways: 8 degreesThe video made it look like a wall.Speaking of Rockingham Walls: Be aware the backstraight wall is at 90 degrees to The World, not the track; if you hook it with a tire, you will roll yourself over. (Yeah, I know -- I'm a little late with this data. )
Guest Jon8j
I'm seriously jealous of you guys! I LOVE that track!!! Would'a loved to have the car finished in time, but we'll get there eventually.

Ogren-Engineering
Great vid Philippe. Great racing among very close cars. . Well done. It is tough to let your race get away, you want to force a pass . But that happens. MM
Philippe
Great vid Philippe. Great racing among very close cars. . Well done. It is tough to let your race get away, you want to force a pass . But that happens. MMThanks for the praise! We didn't really let the race get away! We were 5 laps down to the Saab #91 for the win! Our "touch", and the subsequent tire rub only made our second place in jeopardy. Even though faster, the #11 Jetta would not have finished 6 seconds behind us, but we wouldn't have caught the Saab!See you at Charlotte? Maybe someone has a video? They closed it over a decade ago, but the fastest third mile dirt track in the world used to be Atomic Speedway, just west of the I-40/I-75 split west of Knoxville, Tennessee. I used to race there in the late seventies, the clay was brought up from Georgia, and the turns were banked at THIRTY THREE DEGREES!! If you were NOT doing at least seventy, you would slide right off the turns. When the clay went dryslick, if you locked up your brakes, you would leave black skidmarks on the clay Lap times were in the NINE second range for the Modifieds, and we were turning mid tens in the sportsmen class cars. The turns would just keep coming at you so quickly, I have never had such a GREAT Adrenalin rush as when I used to race that track. You felt like you could take a nap on the straights at the track in Rome, Georgia, by comparison. Brie
