petawawarace
Just screwing around looking at some things and came across a car that seems unique. FWD, 4 door, turbo diesel, Auto. With simple tune, 200+ whp, 330ftlbs, weight should be 2600-2700lbs with a decent diet. 18 gallons with fuel cell and surge tank. Here’s the best part, it’s on the list and it’s only 200pts. Lots of room for good suspension and aero, maybe a manual trans swap if you can find a decent one. Could get more power for sure too. Whatcha think? Any guesses on what car it is? Bandit
2010+ Chevy Cruze Diesel eta-Assume the +100 applies to turbo diesels as well, so it's actually 300vpi. Edited July 20, 2021 by Bandit

Yup. But only 2014-16 in NA. Would it be -75 if you run the auto tho?

Yes, but I see they were available with manual if a guy wanted that. F40 6 speed. I was curious so did a quick search and found a guy that hit 181hp and 296lbs of torque at the wheels with a tune and emissions delete. Should pull around a relatively light little hooptie pretty well. Also, Fiero swap!

They also have a bunch of really nice Cruzes they use in the Cruze Euro Cup. Would make a pretty good base for it. Think a newer turbo diesel like that would be reliable enough? I know a guy that has one, only one I have seen out here in the sticks, but have no idea how they handle cranking up the boost. Saying that, diesels seem to take it a lot better than gassers do. I'd be more concerned about things like hubs, trans and such since it was never a performance car. I don't know anything about the Cruze Euro Cup but doing some research there might yield some answers concerning the weak points of the car in a racing environment. Thinking about changing rides already? Was hoping to hear good news from your test at Mont Treblanc (sp?)

Thinking about changing rides already? Was hoping to hear good news from your test at Mont Treblanc (sp?) Lol. No not switching. Just went down a rabbit hole while waiting on something at work. The Cobalt worked really well at Tremblant. Balance was back to neutral with new tires, and the only issue was a cv boot that came off in the last session. I think it was due to using the wrong band clamps because I couldn’t get stock ones. Should be an easy fix. Gonna do some maintenance and driver comfort stuff and race Calabogie in a month.
petawawarace
The Eurocup cars look pretty decent. They have some suspension and aero work but are pretty stock. I think they use the 180hp Euro gas engine tho.
Bandit
It looks like a Champcar.... but nicer. I've always been curious how a 2002 STS with a manual swap would run. Comes down to if a guy could get 1000 pounds out of it. And it's wrong wheel drive.
petawawarace
Since the diesel had the bigger tank, you could also swap in the DI 2.4 motor and an F23 trans and have a decent car too. 200whp, with an 18Gal tank and the motor/trans combo would be lighter. 2500ish. Should easily go 2+ hrs pretty much anywhere.
SpeedMaverick
If that is a unicorn then I already have one. 18 gallons, over 200whp and right at 2000# with plenty of points to spare. It's been sitting for a couple years but I just started working on it again so I can get the space back in my garage. I am getting it ready to do some testing and then sell it once I establish some lap times with it. Unless I get a decent offer for it sooner. I am hoping to find a pre race test day next spring to drive it. I'm getting too old and too tired of the politics in racing. I love building the cars but the people are just too intolerant anymore and it's not as fun as it used to be. I'm going to be building customs, building a YouTube channel and making and selling stuff that has some value.
