With mixed emotions I accept the nomination, this run was not my idea, it was the brainchild of @Justin9 friend and team owner of Speedway Creations. Cant lie, previously the thought had crossed my mind, but always beaten back, what I did not expect was Ray Frank running as well as recent and overwhelming support from teammates, friends ,fellow racers, and even outgoing BOD. Seems like a perfect storm.

A bit about me:

In my 50s, Team captain and car owner.

Catch on quickly

Have had a couple of small businesses

Around cars all my life, second generation master tech, problem solving w/people or machine are one of my top daily tasks.

In some form, have been racing W2W or Demo derby-ing  cars 25+ years

Have driven, owned or raced many of the cars found on the VPI list

Never served on a board before.

Have minimal experience in bringing in new sponsors

What Can I do for the series? That's tough, one person can only do so much, its a team effort, we all have a job to do together.

Keeping a level head would be a good start, I/ my team have been building, racing, and occasionally winning within this series on a tight budget since its inception, perhaps offer counterpoint to changes that could upset the incredibly close and relatively cheap racing we already have.

While there are plenty of business items the board should address (like future profitability or a solid mission statement) I am sure rules will still be a item to contend with.

Most running for BOD have said similar, I think we all have our hearts in the right place but need to put a personal answer to things.

Touching on hot topics in no particular order:

1)Fuel for points- NO

2)Fast wearing fast tires- not a fan as they circumvent attempts to control speed creep and diminish the affordability of this series. Perhaps more then one tire per pit costs addl minutes

3)West coast- Mostly seems lost, but some promising ideas have recently been mentioned, I would support a "western rule set"

4)E30- If a board member cant put aside the type of car they love/run/own, they have no business making a decision on it, having racers on the board is inevitable, deal with it.

5)EC- Good to have but not going to encourage it

6)Classing- it aint great but it works, different tracks cater to different cars, results have included all

7)Transparency- I am not talking about the required minutes!  Required is required... the rest is not a easy answer, TAC/BOD need to work closer sometimes, perhaps have some info released for debate before a final decision, not sure if that's even possible, but honestly, who wants every detail how sausage is made.

8)Swap "Weight"- it WAS weight, now it IS a modifier based on the intended outcome, it is not so broken it needs fixed at the expense of rebuilding the entire VPI base, this place does not have the resources to do what some folks are asking. Be real.

9) iRacing- never tried but do see it as important, hear folks talk about it, and get beat by folks rocking sims at home. It would have any support I could muster

10) Member communication- more email, more youtube

11) Building business, elect someone with the proper skills, we have Justin Andress AKA Shultz of RVA running for a spot. He knows quite a bit about running a multi million dollar business!  Otherwise I see the need to re boot advertising in Grassroots motorsports mag. reinstate a champ bux bounty when one team brings in a new team, but that only goes so far.

Bring it

Sorry to say that this sounds like the usual "nope too much work, can't do it!" excuse.

Fix the few cars that upset the apple cart so that the swap calculator can do what it was designed to do. The vast majority of cars on the VPI list didn't get "adjusted" and don't need to be. The time it would take to undo the things that screwed up the swap calculator would be measured in single digit man hours, and they are well known and documented in many threads.

Then I am not your man, please consider voting Justin for his business acumen then choose whom will be there for your needs
