Just took a look at the results.

So did @Grant move out west and build more NC's?  FTD's both days, 2 different cars...

Or has someone else figured out how to make them go fast? (That would be amazing since all the info on these forums talks about all NC's getting penalized just because 1 good builder decided to run one. )

Either way. I'm sure glad the BoD was able to persuade the TAC to join in their conspiracy and secret plan to do something about this!!

Hey why did you pull this?

Good question, the team that built that car had run a very successful ecotech swapped miata, I believe a 2.2l even.  Not like they don't know how to build a good car.

The car that won the both days was within 1.5s for ftd..... consistent driving can make up for one hot shoe...

They get 30 more points next year.  Same small gas tank which doesn't really come into play in 7 hour races.

FWIW we would not be able to go an hour forty minutes (3-stopper in a 7-hour race) at Laguna Seca without conserving or full-course cautions. We could barely do that on a damp AMP, but full course cautions saved us. Looking at the Laguna results I'm guessing they did not do hot pulls? Because that's a lot of Miatas.

I've never been and have no intention of ever going to Laguna Seca, but based on SRF and MX5 Cup times there my guess is we'd run... umm I probably shouldn't say. Faster than 1:43s 😉

The #93 car looks pretty heavy though. And on RS4s. I'm actually shocked it FTD'd. Link below is to a 1:43.8 lap.

I watched a bit of it, and definitely saw a lot less throttle than we'd use driving flat out. Some coasting into corners and lifting on the front straight. My guess is they were conserving to make a 3 stop strategy, though at one point they ran as long as 1:52. So their fastest lap time isn't going to tell the whole story here, just like it doesn't for us.

I had a much slower fastest lap in the race a few years ago (ecotec).  Watching the video, I uttered "yes" on three corners, the rest it seemed to me left a little meat on the bone.  They did a great job in 2, the corkscrew and the last turn.  But Basil Weenie has been a strong team for many years and they run races well!  I'd love to drive one of these someday, especially at Laguna.

I love that track but COVID took me out for about six months, hopefully better enough by spring 2022.
