cowboys647
Love Racing Report: We made the long row from SC to TX for this one as we have family/team members near Austin. Planned to do a shakedown of our second car (LR2) which is a turbo NA Miata. We were able to get a 4ish hours of practice in it but found we were getting big fuel starving in left handed corners with like 4-5 gallons still in the tank. Also, ended the day having the clutch master go out and unable to shift. Was fun anyways and learned a lot! LR1 had an uneventful time during practice except for myself going off at Mustang because of the darn bumps. This is the first time we had the VVt 1.8 with 245 RS4 and full aero at Harris hill so we were excited to see what we could do. Tech found a gap in our cage that made it 4 years through tech so we welded that up and we’re good to go. Started the race up near the front and were able to get up to 1st overall for a few laps before lone star got comfortable and got back ahead. Ran a 26.8 and was super pumped but we ran out of fuel at ~1:50 mark which changed our strategy as this was the first time we couldn’t go 2 hours. Ran a pretty uneventful race the rest of the time until our second to last stint where we got flagged for passing under yellow. Haven’t looked at the video there. Had some luck during the last stint and was able to make it on the podium. Without the black flag, we could have battled with Winkler for a chance at least. We had no work to do on the car so just relaxed and started day 2 in the back of the field. Car ran great for 30-40 minutes and I worked my way up to the top 5 until the driver front hub started to go out. Pulled in for a quick torque job and back out but it was clear we needed to swap before the wheel fell off. This hub had only ~13 hours on it and was repacked with redline CV2. Back on the track and running some good laps and then the passenger front ball joint sheared going down the hill. Sorry for such a long caution everyone! We were running extended ball joints and only had oem spares so we threw those on there and did an eyeball toe adjustment. Ended up with some vague amount of toe in and positive camber but got back on track. Car was ~2-3s slower with the alignment but still ran for a while just for fun. Decided to park it with 30 min to go because we were killing the front right tire. Was a ton of fun and great battles with lots of cars. We need to figure out how to get a few more HP and lose some weight while also making hubs last so we can compete with the NC Miatas we keep losing to everywhere.. turbogrill
We are taking points for non-OEM hubs, I think its worth it. One of the few things that will go bad and that can be prevented.

Ours have been on the car since early 2019, with no issues. Best money I've spent on the car to date
Wink
Some photos.. NC's are fast Still curious how they make 20 more hp, and go the same distance on the same fuel.. Well done to the LRC team, they were flawless all weekend. Back to the lab
