NA 1.6 with AFM delete - CAI needed?

I just installed a plug and play aftermarket ECU, still running the AFM but that is going away asap.


It's very tempting to just add a $20 conefilter instead of the AFM, however it would sit right next to the exhaust.


Have anyone experimented with getting cold air or not cold air and if it matters?

I've dynoed A LOT with the 1.8L.  If you don't dyno, then just make the intake smooth and get cold air through the turn signal housing.  If you dyno, you will need to try a bunch of setups.  There is 3-6ftlbs on the table for about 1500 rpm and maybe 1-3 across the range of you get it right.
