Rapido
Turns out practice rounds are occasionally for the benefit of both racers and administrators - my work/life schedule has been out of whack this week and so my apologies for getting the practice round up at the last minute tonight. In case people were unable to join, I have scheduled two others on both Thursday (11th) and Monday (15th) before the championship round on the usual time/date. COTA is one of our community picks for the season, having featured on ChampCar calendars in previous years and proving a highly enjoyable challenge. This should be well suited to the Ford Mustang, which will have the opportunity to stretch its legs down the long back straight. mostmint
Still don't have this Mustang quite figured out. I practiced for this event at hotter temps. I've been at this track in August the temps are in the 90's, IRL the overnight low for the next 7 days is 71 but this sim somehow came up with 65 degree air. All that combined for a mid pack qualifying effort. Unfortunately I got spun from behind lap 1 turn 6 (protest submitted). I decided to pit early to get some open track and get my head together. That gave me some clean track until after everyone's pit sequence. After his pit Aaron Thorpe was a few seconds back but on fresher tires so he closed up the gap and we had a race for a while. My lap times definitely improved as the pressure was on. Eventually he used up his tires and I was able to hold my position. Rapido
Following this race, there was one protest submitted for review. Subject of protest: David Dalton Jr Reason for protest: Avoidable contact Conclusion: Following analysis of the replay, decision is made to take no further action. Although any contact is regrettable, there was no clear evidence of malice or overdriving and this is adjudged to be a racing incident on Lap 1.
