LS Engine Advice

Since we took the year off to finish the truck after starting to build a house (we are our own GC, no minute to work on the truck), and cracked the block and heads over the winter with water left in it we are going the way of the LS

Got a free 5.3 from a customer of mine for a favor that was burning oil at high mileage.

Broke the engine down, just looks like rings, block went to the engine shop for a cleanup and check up.

We are going to do all the bearings in the bottom end, new pistons rings, lifters. As for the top end we are thinking of a mild/medium cam, and some hand porting of the heads.

What kids have people done to these engines to be used for endurance racing?

Not sure on the specs, we are running a stock, never opened 4.8 off marketplace with a new set of plugs and o2 sensors.

No issues after the first race, AMP is next.
