Race Log -

Flagtronics Live Marching Ants Feed - Link TBA

ChampCar.Live - https://www.youtube.com/c/ChampCarEnduranceSeries/live

There will be a live broadcast with Paulie, Tiffany, and Bill Strong at this event.

Please update your car class on your tech form. This is important!
Also, please check your Flagtronics serial number for correctness. We have teams adding too many zeros, not enough zeros, or just weird stuff.
ChampCar Staff will be at the track Friday and will update your FT200 to get the latest updates with the new 2023 encryption key. Please have the USB power cord in a position for our staff to plug into a laptop. We will update the Firmware, Bootloader, and Track Maps. Updates take a few minutes to accomplish.
Without this update, your FT200 will show a COM or SIG signal.
Buy a FT200n here - https://flagtronics.com/apps/bundles/bundle/71504
ChampCar will have a limited number of units to rent for $50 at the event.

Please check your transponder number for correctness on the tech form as well. Please also secure your subscriptions for your subscription-type transponders before the weekend.

Watch your email for essential emails from Race Director Dana Morrison in the coming weeks.

ChampCar will have new Sponsor Panels for all teams; these are required. You will not be able to leave the pitlane without them installed.

Please look over your decal package with what is required per the 2023 Decal List
This year's sponsor panels will have the following sponsor decals applied in front of the door number panel. Other locations are not acceptable.
RVA Graphics and Wraps, Lifeline USA, UUC Motorwerks, Frozen Rotors, NLA Parts, Hawk Brakes.
Any previous sponsor decals are not allowed in that area. You may run them if they are one of your sponsors, but they can't be located near the ChampCar sponsor panel. You may cut the decals out, but they MUST maintain the same lineup and spacing as on the panel.

To buy pre-printed number panels and decal packages, go here - https://rvagfx.com/store/. Due to delays in shipping, it can take up to two weeks to get. So don't wait until the last minute.

ChampCar will sell blank number panels for $20 each at the event.

Flagtronics Update

Latest Flagtronics Device Manager software - v0.51

Latest Firmware - v0.6.0.4
Latest Bootloaded - v0.4.6.5

The FT200 is required to compete at VIR. All units will be required to work before exiting the pit lane.

When installing, DO NOT CUT any of the wirings. Don't laugh; this has happened.
Now that you know NOT TO CUT any wires, please read the instructions BEFORE installing the unit.
As the great Dana Morrison says, we must say these things because we have seen this happen.

The link to the manual is here -

After reading the instructions, the easiest way to do this is to plug the USB into a high amp USB female connector.
These 12v to 5v 3.0 amp converters work well. I do use gaffer tape on the USB connector to protect from the elements and to keep it from vibrating loose.

These cigar adapters work too. BUT... I have had them vibrate loose, and it just adds something in the middle that can go wrong.
It must be at least 5v 2.4 amp output. Less than that won't work well.

Mount the unit to a solid surface. The CRASH DETECTION is now working. If you are being chased by an ambulance, as seen in your mirror, it's probably due to your FT200 rolling about the footwell.

Adjust the light brightness by using the TOP front button to go brighter and the LOWER front button to make it dimmer.
1 - Low brightness with light compensation
2 - Medium brightness with light compensation
3 - High brightness with light compensation
4 - Low fixed brightness
5 - Medium fixed brightness
6 - High fixed brightness

During the race, the FT200 will go into low-power mode. It looks like four arrows. This is normal.

Sitting under the dash cowl (Lower window seam) decreases its view of the sky.
Please ensure the power and the GPS connectors are tight and click into the unit. If your locking nubs are broken, some Gorilla or Gaffer tape can secure the cables to the unit and keep them from vibrating loose.

I know this is a lot of info, but we want to make your racing at VIR and upcoming events a fun experience.
And remember, if you need help, find me in the paddock or race control.
