Fender lip clearance

Recommended Posts

Hi

I see a lot of cars (maybe not champcars) that has very little margin between tyre and fender lip:

I am sure there is clearance if you go straight but if you turn the wheel wouldnt you get a lot of rubbing on the outer tire due to the roll ?

Or are these cars just cars that look like track cars but never gets pushed hard?

Look at old JTCC cars. They made it work and there is negative clearance. It all depends on the suspension set up and how big the arches are in regards to how much work needs to be done. Anything as extreme as this example and you are making front tubs and relocating a lot of suspension points. Looks pretty badass tho.

How does that work?

If you turn the wheel it will be outside the fender and has to rub if you are cornering?
