Hey all, it's been over two years since I've raced competitively and I'm now a Novice again.
As we're working to stand up a team to go racing, how are new drivers handled (We will have two green drivers and me, a born again novice)? We've looked over the BCCR and see that new driver school happens after registration.
Is this at every event? Is it a classroom session or on track session, or both?

What should our new drivers expect?

Thanks!

It's a classroom session and mostly to learn the flags and to instill the "don't do anything stupid" thought. Depending on what race you do, there will likely be others who have never raced before either. On the ChampCar YouTube page, https://www.youtube.com/@ChampCarEnduranceSeries there are some videos to watch that might help the transition.

Awesome, this clears up most of the questions. I didn't want 3 of our drivers showing up and expected to be on track for a comp school with only one race car :)

I'd suggest a couple HPDEs if you have that option with the car - especially if the other drivers have never been on a track.  Just the basics can be overwhelming as I'm sure you probably know.  Plus it gives you an option to work out any of the build kinks.

Even an HPDE in a streetcar is better than nothing.  As you know the learning curve is just about vertical for your first couple of sessions.

A street car will be more reliable and have a second seat for an instructor. A fast race car is NOT what you want.
It's about learning technique and not outright speed.
