WinkTimber
I am at home working on my crap can Saab racer (as opposed to one of the other crap can Saabs on the compound). It's possible that the CCWS staff does not have an Interweb connection at the track, or they may not have enough staff persons to post updates.Watch for live updates from me next weekend at Brainerd. I will be driving the Fart-hinder Saab 900.
Guest JamieLeighPhotography
Hey guys I hope you get your update! I am the photographer at BeaveRun and I have been taking a lot of great photos during the first day of the event. I will keep posting new pictures all weekend long! mostmint
Woo hoo! A Saturn pulls in a win. Congratulations. Thanks for the update.
dsycks
The Saturn was pretty sick. VERY well set up with near zero tire wear and zero hysterics of any sort. The Alfa was fast early as was the SHO but the Saturn just got faster and only pulled off for 5 min every two hours for driver and fuel. Fast and dead boring. Boy Blunder
Can you elaborate on the comment "VERY well set up"?
dsycks
VERY well set up as in the guys obviously know the chassis inside and out. Cars don't get that good by accident. I am not in any way implying that they have a car filled with cheatonium but there is no question that their setup is perfectly spot on with everything expertly put together. You don't flog 1:15s (and faster) lap after lap after lap with zero issues without being so.
dsycks
Art, on the Johnda Deere car. I think that looks like their car in your user pic? I am guessing you were not with them?I am sure you know by now they got collected in a wreck by another car and had pretty significant damage to the front of the car. I was with the team parked/camped just next to them and felt awful for them all. Sad stuff when you work that hard to show up, pay your money and then get taken out by someone elses oops. Hope you all get it sorted and maybe see you again at another race!
Bongle
Art, on the Johnda Deere car. I think that looks like their car in your user pic? I am guessing you were not with them?I was doing a triathlon this weekend in Ontario, so I wasn't able to come. I didn't know that. That's pretty awful news. Which day was the accident? How far into the race?
dsycks
They did?! Hows about that?! Awesome news!!! It was a big front hit that bent both rails to the drivers side. It looked pretty bad. They hooked up to it in the pits and started yanking and broke (I think) a hub while doing that. It was very early on Saturday so I guess that gave them time to work on it and find parts? Its awesome when folks are able to make big fix's and come back and do well. To win day two makes it even better. Very happy for the nice young Canadian men! A very popular win today by Jhonda Deere, well deserved! It was a great weekend, great job by all teams!Cheers
mostmint
I venture to say that inconsistent race coverage is not a good way to encourage more use of the forums. Thanks to those who gave us some info on this past weekend's races. Thanks to those who gave us some info on this past weekend's races. Then try and show up yourself and volunteer and see how much spare time you have to type. Yes coverage would be nice if there is wifi avail.and bodies to do it all. Mike, you and your crew are top shelf!

John was asking a few weeks back why there isn't more activity on the forum - this might be a reason.John - I realize there are no guarantees about reports and I am comfortable with it. It will not change my mind about the series. We'll take the reports whenever opportuniy presents, even if only 1 in 3 or whatever. I was just connecting dots about your comments about inactivity on the forums.

I got to meet him a few races ago at a LeMons event and he really went out of his way to be nice. Great fella and I so dig his Supra/GTO... hope to see it fixed up and racing again soon! dsycks
As far as race coverage goes... I wish I had known that it would have been helpful as I would have posted up some stuff on Saturday.I don't think the track had wi-fi but my phone had good 3G and it acts as a wireless hotspot and I could have easily fired up the laptop which I had with me and posted a ton. Sadly I didn't get all that active here until after getting to meet some of the chump staff and seeing how things worked. I liked it so I am here and hope to stay active as well. As for the folks at the event... I love Beaverun. I have not been there for two years and I fear the place seems to have had about 4 years of wear with maybe not the upkeep that I would have expected given how nice it was when I was there prior. I would also say that 5 corner folks is maybe a bit sparse as well. The elevation changes and lack of perfect sight lines makes extra hands REAL helpful! I would also say that the staff who were there were awesomely nice and easy to get along with. The guys I was with had a few minor issues and chatting with staff about the situation was quick and pain free. If in the future there is a need to have extra folks kick in and help with a given race, please feel free to put the word out as there are those of us who may not be racing who would be happy to help out as enough hands can make things smoother and more importantly safer and more fun at the same time. Guest Stephen M
First time at the track. It's deceptively fast and hard on brakes, compared to our expectations from walking the track Friday night. The elevation changes certainly make it interesting. The weather was awesome. The people were great. The racing was fantastic. The Sunday race was decided by about half a lap (how cool is that?). The only disappointment was the high level of mechanical attrition. There were a few spins and at least two fires, but I didn't hear of any serious injuries. It was green flag racing most of the way. This simply hammers the point home.
Jer
Maybe we'll get to Beaverun next year, if Chump comes back. It's just a tough time right between Summit Point and VIR this year, two can't miss events for our team.
Mopar 4 Life
Huge congrats to jhonda deere for the win on Sunday. I am really bummed out our little neon managed a way to get a hole in the gas tank on sunday. But that is racing. Out of curiousity does anyone have a picture when it caught fire for a couple of turns.
kent merkle
Beaverun was a success for our lil Shadow that proved it could! But alot of that success came from the driving and unselfish wrenching of Joe and Rob middlemiss and Bob the cook and Big Joey P. You guys made a slow car an 8th place car! CANADIANS ROCK AND RACE!
