Guest posnova
Hey Chumps!Spokane has beautiful weather today. After a chilly overnight low of 47, today's predicted high, fully sunny is a meager 73 degrees. Look for 81 on Saturday, and 90 on Sunday. The ChumpStaff are arriving at the facility and are starting the set-up process. If things go according to plan, because they always do, we'll start Registration, Gear Check, and Vehicle Safety and Technical Inspection at 3PM, running until 7PM.For this event, as with (hopefully) all ChumpCar events, you may watch the live timing through the Race-Monitor.com application, on iOS or Android OS (iphone/android) devices. Visit www.race-monitor.com for the application. For those of you at home, you can watch the unofficial continued pilot of web-based timing from a test site at http://home.comcast.net/~fairlanemac1964/cc/lt.htm . If you click the small rectangle in the upper right-hand corner of the timing display, it will swap it to full screen for your viewing pleasure.50+ cars are expected to arrive today and take to the track on Saturday.More to come! Guest posnova
Where's the login info for the race monitor app?You won't need login info. You may have an older version on your iphone or android that didn't auto-update. Just use the "race directory" button to see our race once you've got the latest version on your device. Guest posnova
At noon today in Eastern Washington, a gaggle of vehicles took to the track to shake down their rigs, for 24 hours! We've already, in the first two hours, had at least 5 vehicles come into the pits to fix super minor issues, but on a hot motor, takes 20 minutes longer than it ought to, ya know? We've had fan blades, electrical connectors, gas caps, random debris flying around inside vehicles people forgot to remove or secure. All cars are still on track, however, and the racing continues! Guest posnova
And the racing continues! There's been an all out brawl for 1st place amongst cars 99 Eh Team Honda CRX, 10 Waldo Racing VW Golf, 95 Team SSTP Toyota MR2, and 72 Team TSR Chevy Camaro. And we're only at hour 5! 19 hours remain in the race, and somehow, all cars are still running. There's been issues, but no terminal failures.... yet. Guest posnova
Holy cow! The team with hands-down the fastest car here - fastest lap of the day so far at 1:42.593, currently running in 20th place, just violated the basic rule of "shiny side up, greasy side down. The driver is 100% ok. The car is 100% obliterated. Unfortunately the vehicle has oiled the entire racing surface and we're still under a red flag, cleaning it up. The drivers are sitting on course, because with a giant stripe of oiled surface, we can't drive any vehicles through it to get them into the pits. When it's clean, we're green! Guest posnova
Hey all. I've been off this post working another for a good chunk-o-time, and haven't been able to post frequently. That being said, at 12 hours into the race, the top 3 cars were all on the same lap, brawling for 1st. We have a 1967 Datsun 1600 Roadster, a 87 Camaro, and a Toyota MR2, with the Honda CRX of the EH! Team close behind.Just a few minutes ago, another driver decided to violate that sacred rule again. Another driver is 100% OK, and another vehicle is 100% not.
Bongle
Wow, from the live timing it looks like 3rd and 4th (Cone Damage and Squirrels of fury) are SECONDS apart after 22.5 hours. Also, the live timing is amazing. So when do we get live video?
Guest posnova
Hey Chumps! It's been busy down here, and I've been working stations away from the computer for some time. But that's alright, because our competitors are having an awesome, awesome time. The night racing was close, and at times, intense! A rash offs with tricky gravel laden picks for the tow rig kept much of the night course under at least a partial yellow. Almost all offs were attributed to vehicles with sub-par lighting, or incorrectly aimed lighting. In case you hadn't heard, we did in fact have a 3rd infraction of the sacred rule, shiny side up, greasy side down. The Ford Fiesta took a tumble through the same spot as the other two before it. Driver 100% OK. Car.. not so much. The battle has been over 2nd place, 3rd place, and 4th place for certain. Even now, an hour and a half until finish, its still undecided. The attrition rate has been unusually high. 16 cars still running, out of 39.My last post will be results and lap times. Thanks for reading, see you at the next Western Region Race! Squirrels of fury 2 was battling an unknown problem and was down on power all day. despite spending time in and out of the pits, they managed to finish.A great time was had by all! Guest docjones
Thanks to the Squirrels of Fury, Martini Racing and Autospiel Racing for helping keep our Fox on the track. If it weren't for you, our race would have been over at least 3 times. As it was, we finished 15th. Sadly, I damaged the car (and killed the axe) and cost us just over 3 hours. That being said, it was an awesome weekend. Guest Alpo-na Mike
What a great race!! Team Alpo-na thanks everyone involved and appologizes for anyone we may have pissed off. Except for when I was pretty liberal with the middle finger to a dangerously driven transcamaro sometime in the early AM but he/she/it certainly deserved worse.BTW, I'm looking for onboard video of a very close call in the hour just before the lighting break. Came out on to the main straight after the kinks along with (I think?) one of the MR2s just behind and to the right of me. We were closing scary fast on the then very slow moving Squirrels2 Audi going down the painted centerlines and it looked like we were going to simply split it until the last moment when it moved to the left wall. YIKES I know I came VERY close to hitting the audi hard while swerving around it, and I also must have come very close to hitting the other car. It was a huge fast tire howling move that somehow worked out and I'd sure love to see it or at least hear how close it looked from the other angle.Anyway, thanks again to everyone:) can't wait til next time.-Mike

Whichever whitness it actually was may not have quite seen his life flash before his eyes..but I'll bet anything he remember the incident. Hell even the Squirrel must have gotten chills just from the tire noise even if he didn't realize what almost happened.

I'll cut it and put it privately on youtube and send you the link. This isn't the only thing the gopro captured. Never will my car run without it recording. Guest 91stealthrt2
I just wanted to say how much of a good time we had! Even though we had one of the slowest cars out there(in the Festiva) Top speed was only 80! We probably would have finished around 15-16th or so since we didn't have any major mechanical issues. But that's if one of the drivers wouldn't have rolled the car.... The car wasn't hardly damaged even but they wouldn't let us continue.Only one car out there made me feel unsafe(not counting how hard it was to drive with one eye in the rearview due to EVERYONE being faster) and that was the stupid aggressive driving of the yellow Camaro. Thanks everyone!Rusty
