Tubby
Chumpsters have invaded the track here at HPT! It rained this morning and the first cars out had a slippery test n tune.
Tubby
We're through tech and we've had a chance to meet several of the other teams. Got to chat with Alex Wiley, better known as Nsuracer, and he teched his opel right after our car. Alex is a class act and he's inspired four other teams here today to go Chumpin'.
Tubby
The sun came out and it's 88 now and my legs are baking in the paddock. It's gonna hit 100 tomorrow. Glad we upgraded our cool shirt cooler.
Tubby
More teams are arriving. KH Racing had a fuel pickup issue and ran out to get another fuel pump. Other than that they are ready to go. Their 60's Mustang is my favorite car so far.
Guest AWiley1953
Well we got the fast guys here, I didn't see any rich guys, and I think that we have the idiots covered. It was overcast until noon and then it got hot. It will be hot tomorrow. In our group we have, "Its just a Datsun" that will be piloted by an all female team that run the Pro Solo circuit. The Honda Chumpcar is ready to go, The Richard Nixon Opel is ready. The "Nacho Racecar" Honda CRX is getting a rear main seal, and The Nissan Chumpcar is awaiting an ignition module. It ran all day for the test and tune and then quit on the way to tech. It figures.I think that Ford dominates the field as we have 2 Mustangs, 1 original and 1 fox bodied. 1 escort, 1 Taurus, 1 fiesta, and a Lincoln. WE have 2 Nissans, a 240SX and a Sentra, 2 Hondas, 2 Porsche 944s, two BMWs, and 1 lonely Opel. There maybe more, but I was busy and didn't get to see everybody. That is all for now
Guest MaddogTBR
Team TBR is off to a shaky start this morning - before the race has even started. We broke a motor mount yesterday and we're scrambling to find something. Any help!?!?

Tubby
The local BMW dealership doesn't sell parts on Saturday (but they are open for new car sales...). Local junkyards are also closed on Saturday. We ended up calling local craigslist ads and asking them if they had a mount or could we borrow one. We found a guy that not only had one out of the car but was willing to deliver it from the track from over an hour away.Meanwhile, our intrepid master mechanic/e36 savant (aka the General), was building a homemade one with some Home Depot hardware. Once fabricated, our mount was only 10 minutes away so we decided to go with the oem part. Many thanks to Tommy and Miranda for grabbing an e36 motor mount and driving an hour from Kansas City to HPT to deliver it. Miranda is 8 months pregnant and kudos to her to delay the sheetrocking of the new baby's room in order to make the special delivery. Who says BMW isn't a religion?Damage done, it's now a day long test 'n tune.
Tubby
Our fastest lap was following Russ from Chumpfaces around the track. His time in the rain was 4 seconds faster than our fastest time in the dry yesterday. Nothing like some talent, a lot of experience and knowing the track intimately to throw down the gauntlet. Guest MaddogTBR
Eggboy is having electrical and/or transponder issues. We don't know any more details at the moment...The sun is starting to come out. It's time to bake!
Tubby
Sun is starting to break through and it's starting to get very steamy. I hope the weather reports are wrong and it doesn't hit 100 today.
Tubby
Yellow flag on the main straight. Slow moving red Porsche 944. Looks like they have some problems.
Tubby
Asian Trickery Racing leaving the pits in their honda civic. KH motorsports is in refueling and re-driver-ing. Eggboy is in the pits and not rushing around their car. I'll go see what's up.
Tubby
Just stopped by and spoke with Krek and the Eggboy Racing guys. They had an electrical issue with a starter connection that took time to find and fix. They then had a transponder issue. It's tough to win with a lap time of 1 hour and 30 minutes. Like us, today is a test and tune and tomorrow is the race day for our teams.
Tubby
It's Just a Datsun was just in the pits loading up a new driver. Another gal, we've got an all women's team here along with several teams with co-ed driver lineups. Now my mom warned me to watch out for fast women but I think this is awesome! Guest Packard Goose
It's Just a Datsun was just in the pits loading up a new driver. Another gal, we've got an all women's team here along with several teams with co-ed driver lineups. Now my mom warned me to watch out for fast women but I think this is awesome!I believe that Datsun team is an all female team, and at least a couple of them are drivers on the SCCA Pro Solo Tour. Their first experience with road racing - awesomeness. The youngest is 17, and she had some issues keeping the car on the track earlier so the crew chief brought her in. I happened to be walking past after she exited the car and she looked at me with worry and said "Are you going to yell at me?"Of course not. The Lincoln MkVIII is blistering fast down the main straight, but they're having electrical issues that come and go, half the time they're barely fast enough to avoid being black flagged. So we had some nice rain and brief thundershowers this morning, which have now given way to sun, increasing heat and some nice thick muggy humidity, just like mom used to make. Sweet. One of the drivers here showed up with a dirt track Modified car, apparently he's racing ChumpCar today, running the 3/8 oval here tonight, and back for more ChumpCar tomorrow. That should cure his racing jones for a little while...From the Fine Sausage Racing Camp - One of the drivers came into gear check with an awesome 'stache and no bala. He was told that he needed a bala or a shave to get on the track. Needles to say, he wasn't happy. We ran into the team last night at one of the local joints, hanging out and having a few drinks. A guy we didn't recognize walked up and pointed to his now clean-shaven face. I was shocked. I bought the man a drink.
