Just FYI --

1) this track is... well, weird

2) there is one (1) 20-amp electrical outlet in this facility

3) we had to lay our own timing loop and silicone the loop wires to the track

4) this track is... very strange

5) timing and scoring is up and working very well, thanx to Derrick, Joe and Mike (who are working their arses off)

6) live timing is up at the track

7) this track is... not set-up for racing (or much else)

8) no wi-fi; no AT&T phone service -- no web-based access for us to get timing on the ChumpCar site

9) this track is...

10) we'll be looking for a new, better, different facility in 2012 (hey! we took this because Calabogie sold us out!)

Oh... but the racing is great!

Saturday was:

1) Mealtime (5th gen Honda Civic)

2) Johnda Deere (5th gen Honda Civic) (+8ish seconds)

3) Mopar 4 Life (some sort of surprisingly fast neon) (+40ish seconds)

I left early today, but I think Mopar4Life was leading with 2 hours to go. IIRC, Mealtime was 6 seconds behind them and on the same lap too.

Interesting inadvertent experiment: one of the guys driving this weekend drove for both Johnda Deere (Civic) and Team Slimer (E36), and was putting down just about identical times in each car.

Neons have always been fast. But have the stigma of being a real crappy car by the masses of honda lovers. Most forget that DOHC neons were banned in showroom stock SCCA racing. Most forget that neons with decent tires can pull a 1G turn. Most forget Neons came with 150Hp and 140lb-ft of Tq. And that those ratings were underated from the factory, like most dodge cars.

Anyway I would love to thank Mike and crew for coming up to TMP this weekend. I hope they had a good time in the great white north. See you guys at nelson ledges.

Cayuga has been a drag racing facility for years and thats what its known for. they dont need power on a road course to draw in spectators for a drag race. a new owner picked it up a few years back and renamed it Toronto Motorsport Park event though its nowhere near Toronto. I think the road course was built without all the muncipal approvals and they got caught and havent spent a lot of money on improvements.

Anyhow it was a lot of fun with some good racing even with the slim field. I think this was the most tired I've ever felt after a race after 1h:40 in the heat! seemed to be a lot of brutal mechanical failures.

This weekend we ran the Mk 2 Golf as its faster than the Mk3 which is too slo to drive. Wish either one was as fast as that black No 1 Neon.

Congrats to the winners! They all deserved it. I just wish we had been one of them!:lol:

We had the clutch go 3 hours in on saturday, and had it changed and the car running 20 min after the finish of the race, working on burning hot cars slows things down too much. Sunday we were having a pretty good race until the last 2 hours when it appears our head gasket completely let go. We lost compression in at least 3 of the cyl's and it wasn't something we were going to fix by the end of the race. I do suspect that the damage is a little more extensive than that.

Big thanks to everyone who came by and offered to lend a hand changing the clutch Saturday, and it was nice to see the people cheering for us once we got it up and running again.

Really impressed with the Mopar 4 Life guys. You guys have that car sorted right out, it's fast and reliable. I poked my head in it a couple of times walking by, and you have truly removed any unneeded weight.

Big thanks to Skidmarks for towing us down and back, it was a huge load off my mind to have that taken care of.

All said, it was a great event, everyone ran clean and fast. Just wish we had managed to stay on the track the whole weekend.

Thanks to Mike and his Crew for putting the event on, and I hope more people decide to come out next time!

See everyone in Nelson!

Crappy Contour team had a blast at TMP. Not the best facilities, granted. Great group, well organized (facilities considered). Our fist DNF CRAP!!!!! However, We where keeping up with Bimmers & Honda's for a bit there. Mike & gang did a great job. We need Canadian events up here. Lets start promoting. We did not steal the transponder! We just forgot it was there. Pedal down, tires squealing. smiling faces. Lets do it again.

The Tools Merkur XR4ti would like to apologize for burning oil all day Sunday. The turbo let go on Saturday and took all the oil with it. We swapped the turbo but the engine was never the same. We had fun in our ChumpCar debut and look forward to racing at Nelson Ledges with a different engine (not newer or better, just something that doesn't burn 40 quarts of oil in a day)

Right around 10am.

Here's our view of it, its forward only so not all that interesting. Sounds like we got a light push then 2 more hits after that to seal the deal.

Our car was the slowest and lowest on power its ever been, sorry if we got in the way all weekend :-)
