Philippe
This is the raw video of the start of the race on Saturday. I only edited the pace laps and red flag.If I wait to finish editting it, I may never post. Not that I have that much video, we didn't stay that long on the track, but the car needs a lot of work!Part 1: [media]http://youtu.be/xY14a_2BcjQ0- 2:40; Start2:40-5:00; nothing5:00-12:35: good action12:35-15:00: lull15:00-16:25: build up to mistake16:25: I almost lost it where ultimately the car will hit the wall later16:27- end: few carsIt's too bad, and a little ironic that once we finally got all the power out of the engine, we blow it!Not because of the extra power, but because of 2 @##$$%^&^&^stupid 20 year old heater hoses that gave up, one each day! We'll lick our wounds, learn our lessons, and we'll back for Daytona (a little more broke than before!)Congrats to BioHazard, and the "Damn Probe" (or did you loose that title to the "damn Z32"?), and the other teams who finished this race on this amazingly fun and challenging track. Thanks to Chumpcar to allow us to play in such great playgrounds.

Car54
Here's some video from Saturday's start of the race from the Team Eurotrash #30 car. You can see the crazyness with people obeying their teams instead of flag stations. There's a section cutout for yellow.Good battles with the 1st Gen MR2 and Taj Racing. Also the 260Z that went off in T1.
Philippe
Great videos! Great clean racing!I envy the quality of your pictures!I noticed we were not the only team undecided about what gear to come out off 7 with! 2nd or 3rd?

Great clean racing!I envy the quality of your pictures!I noticed we were not the only team undecided about what gear to come out off 7 with! 2nd or 3rd?Thank you! That was very fun.T7 was right in between unless there was traffic or I killed too much speed braking after 6. Guest jmitch
And when you say antifreeze, you mean water, right?
Car54
For this event, coolant could mean anti-freeze or slurpy. We had a slurpy Sunday morning.
chrisweidner
We can't only show the good stuff!Cool video. Just a correction: At 5:25 it wasn't the 33 car that is spinning as the video describes. We be the 33 and that ain't us.
chip
We can't only show the good stuff! The green flag is only shown at the start/finish line- the rest of the corner workers will show yellow flags and pull them as soon as the green is dropped (or shortly there after). So if your teammates are yelling green flag and you don't see any yellows, then I would suggest pushing on the skinny pedal.
Car54
That was the issue Chip...there were yellows at black flag, 10A, and 11...but cars were racing through the complex that were notified by their teams that there was green on the front straight. You can clearly see this happen in the first 30 seconds of my video.
chip
Yeah I know- RA seemed to have a different way of doing things than is typical at other tracks. Usually, when the green is dropped, the yellows are pulled within seconds. Maybe the coffeee didn't kick in yet for the corner workers on the back straight as they seemed slow to react. Jer
Your first minute is how i felt yesterday at a test day in the Miata. we were surrounded by Evos, M3s and Porsches. My finger got tired from all ther point bys I was giving haha
Philippe
And when you say antifreeze, you mean water, right? No, I mean antifreeze! Due to extremely low temperatures, we were allowed to use antifreeze to protect our engine... That didn't help us much!

I got the message between turn 6 & 7, but every corner worker was still showing yellow, even after the bridge! Even though I was much further back than Eurotrash, nobody around me dared to go! I guess I wasn't the only one who didn't want to get the first black flag. And I'm wondering if the cars which made passes got black flagged? This situation happened after every restart! (although we were not part of all the restarts...)
chip
the corner workers were not consistent with the pulling of the yellow flag and it was frustrating. we did not get flagged for the initial start.

CutlassRacer
We can't only show the good stuff! Cool video!!I was driving the silver Z when the red car went off in 10a, and when we had contact. I assumed that because you guys were off pace, that your driver was going to stay offline through 7. I was really surprised when I saw how hard he was turning in, locked up the brakes and slid into him. Whoopsie!!
Guest justjim
Yeah that was me, I was way off pace after hitting the wall in 10a in my first few laps. I had only been on the track a few laps and I was probably still rattled from the crash and had just got back on track and was trying to learn the track line. The car's rear end was skating all over the place which wasn't helping but mostly I just didn't see you coming or I would have made room. It's takes me a little longer to learn the track than the other guys. I'll need to pay more attention to the mirror in the future when I'm not up to speed. Glad there was no serious damage. But Jim hits the wall, comes in the pits so we could inspect the car. We couldn't see anything bad, so we let him go back on track. On that first lap, which explains why he was off pace, he came in contact with you! He was feeling if the car was fine, and he had to be "frazzled"! (I would have been!) I know, there is never a good excuse in case of contact, but I hope this won't hurt our reputation as clean drivers too badly!?
Philippe
Well, that's funny, Jim & I posted almost at the same time!At least we said the same thing! And Jim, based on the video, it was your first lap back on track when it happened! CutlassRacer
Nah its no big deal. I felt like an idiot afterwords myself because I could have just waited until after the corner to pass, but I rushed it, and paid for it. I did the same thing with the Blitzen Benz at Sebring in Turn 3, same situation that we both could have made decisions to avoid contact, but didnt. I am the only driver on our team to have serious contact with another car on track so everybody else needs to watch out when they see my white helmet piloting the Silver Z, ha ha The kinda funny thing is that the same wheel that got cracked in my incident with the Blitzen Benz was on the LR at Road Atlanta and it got cracked again during our contact, what are the odds?? Unfortunately that wheel is now unrepairable so we are trying to sell the three good RPF1 wheels that we have to buy some cheaper ones. That had to be pretty rattling to crash, then have contact with another car in your first stint! Once you get your car lower I think it will be even quicker and more stable, at least it was for our car. The video shows pretty clearly that we do not have a HP advantage, we just brake really late, and corner well.
