Brainerd Turn 2- Who Lifts?, Who Brakes?, Who is Flat to the Floor Every Lap?

Recommended Posts

Non-event. Can take just about any line I want through turn 2 and make it stick.

110 mph going into 3 as verified by GPS logging. Don't know the speed going into turn 2 off hand but I'd wager around 105 mph, the miata really doesn't pick up much in the upper reaches of 4th gear.

I hear you, I think you guys may have actually pulled me a bit between 2 and 3. One session you guys were glued on my arse for a good 5-10 laps. I think we hit 111 or 112 when drafting slugworks.

I lift. Just a little, just to settle the front end, then hammer down again. We don't have a speedometer, but the math says we're doing 115MPH+ through there.

On Friday, I was impressed by the looks of your car. On Saturday and Sunday I was like, holy crap the Binford car has some legs!

As Jon said the VW will do it flat any line you want. Traqmate data showed peak of about 107 entry down to ~104 at exit and 110 before 3. It was a bit hairy finding out for the first time it would do it flat on the inside line with someone right next to you

I was trying to push the pedal through the floor all the way to turn 3. Our speedo says 105 but everyone know how reliable those are. Hauling into turn 3 is my favorite part of the track. I had a couple of pucker moments the last hour on sat when the 99 hit the brakes in 2. I am getting pumped just thinking about it. I can't wait for Iowa.

Thanks. That's its party trick. We played lots of "You out-corner me, I out drag-race you." with other cars running similar lap times.

Not sure how close our speedometer is, but in the Aurora I'd usually touch off 120mph just before 2, lift momentarily, and carry through 2 at 110 or a little under. I'd carry through without lifting, but my balls aren't quite that big just yet...

What is your speed going into 2, what is your speed before braking going into 3?

Car:FWD Aurora

Like Matt, I hit 120(passing and laughing like a madman),lift entering #2 ,to the floor at the apex and up to 115 before braking for 3.Then watch the good guys go a lot deeper and pass me on the inside like I was standing still

Great fun.

Coming soon to an Errora near you-Big Brakes.

Flat from 13 to 3. If I didn't have a good enough line I would have back off the throttle a little sometime to keep from understeering off the track and sometimes the backend would come out also.

Between 2 & 3, we are under constant attack from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and 3 legged deer. This year we did not hit any wild life, the deer running at my car was quite exiting however. I would have never thought a 3 legged deer could be so quick and agile!

In the #88 Golf, I'd be flat from Turn 13 til I shifted into 5th just before Turn 2, where I'd hold the throttle at about 90%. I tried full-throttle through 2 and never found a difference in speed or lap time between flat-out and 90% throttle so I voted to conserve fuel. The car felt incredibly stable either way and I could take pretty much any line I wanted through there (and I had to get creative if I got stuck behind a few cars...) I know I hit 110mph just before braking for 3.
