Wendell34
I'm just DYING to hear about what I missed out on. Anyone? Anyone? What happened? How was it? I wanted to do that race so bad. But, broken car and less than enthusiastic teammates....Details please.

gielamonster
We put all of our race reports on the Gnome FB page:/>http://www.facebook.com/MetroGnomeRacingAlthough we haven't typed much up yet. Probably something this weekend. The event was a blast. We had some brake troubles that soured our finish a bit, and the "track" wasn't what we're used to, but the town and atmosphere more than made up for it.Here's a video of me smacking some tires:/>http://youtu.be/Cb7QNToGqU4
Guest Magnus
Nice Video! It was cool that you fixed it and had it back racing the next day!Yes, the event was a blast. Ensenada is a rough street course... some LONG straights with hard braking zones and even a little "jump" as you enter the loading dock area of a cement plant. The curbs and tire barriers had some victims. Also, until the tires scrubbed the track the combo of beach sand and cement dust on a cement track was very entertaining. Our Alfa Romeo was at one point poised for a potential second place before out loose engine (motor mounts broke during the first race) smashed its crank angel sensor to death at the very end of the second race. As a matter of fact one of the slowest cars of the event - our Mexican friend, Aldolfo, in his 220,000 mile "worn to hell motor" Nissan 200SX - ended up taking second because he never stopped or broke. For those of you considering racing in Mexico again the Mexicali track is MUCH nicer.I have to admit that one of the best parts was being able to walk from the event hotel right out onto the main Ensenada strip with about a zillions clubs, bars and restaurants to choose from.Thank so much to Cathy for all her work! Trying to "organize" anything in Mexico is a major headache. I think the event went off well and everyone ended up having a good time. Even people that broke or crashed for the most part seemed to be in a good mood which is NOT typical for racing.- John Magnuson

lordmulgath
Great video, but I thought helmet cams were a no-no?
Wendell34
I still want to hear more about Ensenada. Anybody? Anything? Please. VIR threads are eleventy billion posts long. Somebody has to have SOMETHING to say about Ensenada. I'm aware there were only 10-ish cars there and some of them aren't on this forum - but still.... It's Mexico. There has to be a few good stories. Or even some sort of race report. Can you tell? I really wanted to be at this race.

mschiap
We had a great time racing in Ensenada. Racing how it used to be, before the lawyers got their hands into everything in the US.Excellent location - we pitted in a parking lot ON THE BEACH. Walk out the hotel door into the restaurant district.
