MIS!

Watching the live timing, it looks like there's 4 cars on the lead lap within 16 seconds of each after the first cycle of pit stops.

PS: Go excitement gang!

And for those that don't have the live timing, that's:

#91 Excitement Gang (CRX)

#66 Bavarian Mustache Werds (BMW, I'm assuming) (+4.9)

#25 Bucksnort (+9.9)

#6 Holy Rollers (+15.9)

Looking at some other race results, it'd be fun to name your team "Waiting for data..."

I just got home after volunteering. BAR had some sort of a problem during the warm-up lap and they were in the paddock for a long time fixing it. Once they got on the track, they were fast. The CRX was in 2nd place with 4 laps to go and something broke. They got towed in. The Bavarian Mustache Works E30 moved up to second and the two-car Saturn team finished 3 and 5. They had an awesome tandem bump draft going for their whole last rotation. They picked up over 5 mph by drafting on the banking.

Team Phoenix (Stiggy and Stig Dad) had lots of issues early in the race. They had a fuel leak due to an old rotted gasket at the tank and then they had an electrical problem and finally they blew the head gasket.

MIS is a beautiful facility and the weather was perfect, though a bit warm. Most cars behaved and there were only a few repeat offenders that couldn't stay facing the right direction.

Rumor has it that they are considering changing the course for tomorrow - I think the proposal was to turn left instead of turning right at turn 6, bypassing NASCAR turn 3/4. I really hope they don't do this. It will make it a totally new track, be shorter (more crowded), and reward teams who didn't come prepared for high speeds/braking.

Nope. Mike polled the teams and there wasn't much interest in changing the course. Tomorrow will be the same as today.

Great news! This course is tough on cars, but that was not a surprise. Glad to see it won't be neutered. :)

Just got home from MIS. Great racing again today. BAR won with Bucksnort 2nd and the Saturn Gold Car 3rd. With 20 minutes to go, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd were nose to tail. They all finished on the lead lap, but the Saturn was low on fuel and backed off to conserve.

Nigel Stu's Bavarian Mustache Works E30 was running well again, but they lost their clutch. The Saturn Art Car hit the wall as did the 17 Neon. Both cars were fast and were top 10 cars.

The #63 Cavette was also running well, but they grenaded the motor and dumped all of their oil on the track and down pit road.

Yeah...the motor went with less than 15 minutes to go so we ended up 4th and there was not way of fixing it for Sunday. We had a great time running in the top 5 all day. What a fantastic facility and thanks to ChumpCar for all their hard work. I know we thanked everyone for the help when the motor let go but it needs to be said again in print. Thanks to everyone who came over to lend a hand!!

Just wondering if anyone that has their own transponder could email me the lap data from Saturday's race so we can check out the entire fields lap times. We don't own a transponder so I can't access the MyLaps data. Excel format would be awesome, thanks.

It was great seeing everyone today...sad to here about the superchicken though...I thought about coming up to your pit area while eatting some KFC...

Hope everyone gets home safe

PS...I think I got my dad hooked on chumpcar, he was amazed at how relaxed the atmosphere was

Yes, he showed up. $300 a set as he said, cash of course...

We had a lot of fun this weekend, but couldn't catch a break for anything. Saturday we were doing great until we popped a LR brake line on the third stint, then the RR on the fourth stint, plus our transponder ground came loose and they lost track of us. Looks like we finished 9th.

Today we were up front for a while, but started loosing a lot of power after the second stint, and by the end we were 12 seconds off our normal pace. Just got home and found cylinder #5 at 25psi and #4 and #6 low as well. 5th place was nice, but getting a trophy just keeps slipping out of our hands!!
