Hey Chumps! Thanks for joining us today in sunny California. The forecast is for wonderful weather, 85 degree high today, tomorrow, and Sunday. I think Sunday might be a bit warmer. We just pulled in and got everything set up. Some of the chumps are getting through the tech and registration process right now. On track on the west end we've had entertainment provided by some BMW M3's, M5's, Camaro Z/28 and SS, Corvettes, and a '66 Mustang decked out. Once they've wrapped up for the day, the track will be available for track walks. See you out there (while we deploy our nighttime SLS lighting flag systems :) )

A green flag start without incident at 11:00AM today. The 24 hours has started! Early on, about lap 4, car #90 a Dodge Stealth / Mitsu 3000GT came in with shifter trouble. All 29 vehicles are making solid, safe, clean laps.

Car #21, the Mazda Miata of "FunHurtz" just had an epic spin, coming onto the front straight. Many cars evasive, no contact, no issue, no foul. Just some excitement.

And we're just past 1/12th of the way done here. Car #249 from Hennessey Motorsports, a chumpy Taurus SHO, is currently in the lead, with #502, an RX7 of Wet and Wreckless close behind in 2nd and #78 of Thundercock in 3rd.

As we approach hour 4, 12 of 29 cars are under wrench. 17 still on track. Pretty solid attrition early on. All but 1 team have plans to repair and return.

After 9 1/2 hours, the leaders have changed up a bit. 1st is now #41, the Dodge Neon of Los Cerdos Voladores, 2nd the #311 Honda CRX of NASA Slo Racing, and 3rd #502 Mazda RX7 of Wet and Wreckless. The previous leader Thundercock had a brake caliper bolt failure that caused the caliper to rip free of its mounting and sever the brake line. It is repaired and is back on course.

Now that it's good and dark, no one can see a thing. Lots and lots of offs as the chumps try and find where the track ends and dirt begins. The entire track is on surface flag for dirt, but that's pretty much perpetual. A few cars have repaired and are trying their luck at this night thing. Into the dark we go!

Corner worker shift change completed. We're at the 12 hour mark. Leaders are 41, 311, and 502. 41's lead in their Neon is being reduced significantly every lap, by 10 to 20 seconds depending. 41 is driving more-or-less blindly as their headlights are illuminated, but aren't exactly illuminating anything.... The rest of the chumps are putting in laps, a good 20 seconds slower in the dark. It is really, really dark out here in the desert. No moon to be found. What's that smell you ask? The rattlers like the warm pavement.. squish. 12 more to go. 1/2 way.
