This track will shake your car to death! This is why we love it!

Come on, who doesn't like racing at Sebring in the winter? This race has all the makings of a perfect event. The weather should be great (fingers crossed). I'm looking forward to seeing all the new goodies you got from our sponsors for Christmas. Best of all, the 10 hour format will allow everyone plenty of time to gather at the Chateau Elan and ring in the New Year together.

Between now and then, ChumpCar and the Eastern Region staff wishes all of you the best of the Holiday Season!

Gates - Remember the summer race? Access to the paddock will open at 5pm Friday. Another organization has the track and we will not be allowed in until after they finish. Line up along the main central road until we are allowed in.

Tech - Again, like the September race, Phil and Dan will be conducting tech inspections at your rig along the central road.
Pay attention here: If you have a current 2016 annual tech with no changes you are good. If you have made changes, present those changes to the tech inspector and have your log updated.
2017 tech: If your car is ready, tech will be conducting 2017 annual tech inspections. Please have everything ready, and TELL the tech inspector you want a 2017 inspection.
After we move into the paddock at 5pm, tech will setup in the covered walkway between the garages.

Registration - Once tech is completed (you have a 2016 annual, you get a 2017 annual, or you are tech'd for this race) bring your yellow log book to registration and get checked in. To speed this up, make sure you are fully paid and your driver roster is correct ahead of time. This time Registration will not open until we move into the paddock. It will be located in a pass-through right under the main tower.

Pit Assignments - Your requests have been met. Here is your pit assignment list. http://files.constantcontact.com/00477aab001/a4c8fab0-6679-4041-8803-2031f41cbffd.pdf

Garages - Have you read all the way down to here? Good! As a Christmas present from your ChumpCar staff, every team gets a free garage for this race. Please take the garage adjacent to your assigned pit.

Supplemental rules - Just a reminder to take a look at the supplemental rules for this event. They can be found here.

QUESTIONS: If you have questions about the race, registration or payment process, email me ( dana.morrison@chumpcar.com ) and I will respond ASAP.

All the best -
The Eastern ChumpStaff

Guest E. Tyler Pedersen

Watch out for Tuttle Motorsports in the orange DSMs.  They like to hit people on track.  I have been with them on track twice and they cause an accident with us and they also caused an accident in front of us.  Two separate times and the same result.  Please be aware.

Good luck to you and Ian, @Bill Strong. I hope your son enjoys his car and you guys run well. It's great seeing the father son teams racing.

All ribbing aside, Yes, good luck Bill and Ian.

I'll echo what Andrew said, it's great to see families doing this together - our team included.

Unfortunately Ian wont be allowed to drive this weekend. There are a few issues.

1. He can't drive a manual transmission yet.
2. He does not have his drivers license yet as in Virginia you must be 16 and 3 months. He just turn 16 a few weeks ago.
3. His mother said NO. And she said it with authority.

we tried figuring out ways to get around it. But his mom is here this weekend.

I will have a live cam out on our balcony watching turn 7 hairpin.

The event cameras are here. https://live.racecast.me/event/57fab312710c2cca0669db18

I will have another webcam setup watching the start finish line looking at turn 17 (sunset bend).

Paulie will try and do a feed show, but it may depend in his day job.

Going to try and setup another can at the esses, but don't know if I will have time for that.

I will have a cam inside the Opel GT #179 and one inside the charred remains of the Biohazard MR2 #386 on it's last race ever.

Gene Bird

Kevan (insert last name here later)

Gene Bird

Bill Strong.

Kevan is Gene's best buddy from his childhood days, which was a long time ago. He used to race in the olden days, and has been crewing for me for a while. We are giving him a chance to relive those olden days in the olden car. should be fun.

Nice job on the Opel . Is the kid going to let you drive it?   I can teach him to drive the stick in a few minutes.  Really.

Is there a post race party??

There's some fancy-schmancy party at the Chateau hotel -- but it's $90 and im pretty sure you have to sip your martini with your pinky in the air.

Hopefully there will a few chumps guzzling Natural Light and Evan Williams with us in the Paddock ringing in the New Year in true Florida fashion!!

To anyone trying to get updates on the interwebs, I'll try to post a few as the race progresses.  SITREP now is that the race was originally scheduled to start at 9 AM.  Then moved back to 8AM, but the corner workers were not completely aware of the change, so now the start is planned for 830AM.

I'm not running today, but will be crewing for the #202 GTD mustang.  This is not its first race, but it's still a testing race.  Not sure how long we'll go on fuel or how the recent suspension changes will play out, but we're looking forward to finding out.
