Just got an email notification that membership cards are no longer physical and here's the instructions to get them on yours on your smart phone.

Dear Member,

Thank you for becoming a ChumpCar World Series member!

For 2017 we have moved away from physical membership cards.  They got lost in the mail, or left at home, or the dog ate them.  No more!  Since most of you never lose your phone, now your membership card can be with you all the time (and it won’t make your wallet thicker!).  And as a bonus, we can send you discounts and important information about races you are entered in.

Let's start out with a couple of quick instructions. First off, you are not required to download the membership card to a smartphone. You may print the card, you may take a simple screenshot of it, or you may install it into your iOS wallet, or download the Pass2U wallet from the Android Play Store to install the card onto an Android smartphone.
A note to Android users. You may say no to all permissions that the Pass2U asks you to allow. You just won't be able to get any push notifications or updates from ChumpCar.

Download your ChumpCar World Series Membership pass here: <personalized hyperlink?>

If you have any problems getting the cards, please email bill.strong@chumpcar.com .
And remember, we have a record of all members, so if the card is lost, or you can't figure out the instructions, or you simply don't want to install the card onto your phone, you won't be penalized.

Thank you.

The CCWS Staff

I've gone through the steps to setup the membership card and here's some observations.

#1, clicking through the personalized (?) link brings you to a mobile friendly page that asks you for 3 images, up to 2MB in size.  "Icon", "Logo" and "Thumbnail".  I added an Icon with a headshot of me.  For Logo I added the Logo for my team.  I didn't add a Thumbnail.  Of course I entered my valid recovery email.

Suggestion:  An indication of which picture will appear where on the membership card would be nice.

#2, I received a membership card page with some funny info on it.  The Logo went at the top but there's a name beside it that isn't mine, "William".  Beside my actual name is a generic picture of the ChumpCar website ... I think a headshot should go here.  I don't see any way to modify the card after it's been generated.  Am I doing something wrong here?

#3, The QR code at the bottom worked fine adding the card to my iOS Wallet.  Great!

#4.  Choosing "Print" at the bottom came up with a messed up page of gibberish.  Could be my local computer print options.

ok. just pushed out a major fix.

#1, right now, ignore this. it was not working like we thought it would. It kinda worked in testing. I'll work on this more

#2, I have no clue why my name is there. I'll send a support ticket in.

#3, The QR code at the bottom worked fine adding the card to my iOS Wallet.  Great! <awesome

#4.  Choosing "Print" at the bottom came up with a messed up page of gibberish.  Could be my local computer print options. <saw that with someone else. I was able to print. working on it

Found the hidden william bit. removed and pushed it out. but for some reason it is not coming off.

I think I got rid of the image upload screen on install too.

I have to do some work at my real job that pays my car payments, so I will come back to this a bit later.

I deleted and reinstalled my card, and the process seems easier.

I still have a few things to tweak. I wanted you to be able to add your picture to the card like an ID. But for some reason it did not work. will sort that out soon.

@Bill Strong

Android user here (Samsung Galaxy Note 5) - Here's what I observed:

1. Only Icon image present, which is fine.

2. See the 'William' tag as well.

3. No QR code.

Note: I don't use my phone as a wallet.

The iPhone user in the house has already complained about all the images and decided not to install. Thinks adding a picture of himself is creepy. Why are all these image uploads necessary? And yeah... he is not a luddite any more than that other guy who complained about needing a smart phone. He's a moderator on MacGurus and has built and modified Macintoshs. He just protects his privacy as much as possible and does not 'do' social media. One of our other team members can barely use his smart phone so I doubt he'll install it as well.

I'm installing it because I'm the logistics person for each race and want to see if the notifications are of use. I'm already 'out there' on the Innerwebs so I just deal.

In any case... I'd be happy to help test rollouts in the future, if you need additional testers. You might want to try a 'soft' rollout to a select group of people to test for this type of stuff. Help us help you.

Thanks guys.

This is my first time using things like this ie virtual wallet. I was tasked with saving the Club money over the older cards which were costing quite a bit of money. And I accomplished that. But, we had some issues on deployment. And we are still learning. It will get better. And I knew that some would refuse to use it, but that is ok, and totally understandable.

The potential good of this tool is big. But we have to find out what works in the real world, and what doesn't. We also need to find out what you guys want and need vs what you hate and don't need.

We will get there, and I think it will get better.

This is the perfect opportunity for him to do this:

I considered doing it myself but was too lazy to get my helmet and instead took a pic while I was pooping and called it a day.

It wasn't. I had planned to allow you to upload an image and put it on the card. In testing it never asked for any of that info to upload. and it did not work like I thought. I have since took the option away. But, one day I want to add it back if it works. If you wanted to add a picture of Cartman, that would be awesome.

It was just a feature I thought was cool.

In real life it was not.

Ok. That is creepier. Meaning you taking a picture of yourself while pooping.

But then I know you are all 12 at heart. Except when there are bewbies present. Then you are 14.
