So in preparation for the new sponsor sheet (doesn't really bother me) we need to remove all the old stickers.... besides using a heat gun, does anybody have any tricks? Especially for the left over adhesive that will surely be a PITA????

If its plastic type decals a razor blade or just pulling them off by hand should work. If that are paper ones you made need to use chemicals to remove them after you get as much of the paper off.

do you use that prior to or after removing the decal?

Both. Peel a little of the sticker back and let it soak in with the help of gravity, wait a few minutes, and then peel away. After it's gone the remover can be used to get the residual glue off.

While I was at Sonoma, I heard Mike tell folks that they did not have to take of every other decal, or old sponsor decals.  He also said that everyone must however,  put the new sponsor panel under the a-pillar/mirror area as that is what the sponsors on said banner approved/agreed on. And I saw several Miatas separate the panels into separate sticker to fit the real estate available on their car.

I am not a creator/interpreter/enforcer of the rules, just sharing my observations made in two races this year with the new decal packages.  It's also worth noting that I observed on two separate occasions, cars that had not applied the new decals being made to do so.  One was on pit lane at RA, I watched it right in front of me as we waited to go out for the parade laps at the start of the race and the team hastily applied the decals just as cars started out on track.  The second was at Sonoma, where I saw a car brought back in to apply the decals after the race had started, and the car was a bit damp at that point.  Both of those teams seemed somewhat stressed applying the decals on pit road, so I would highly recommend that everyone gets the new stuff on before heading out to start a race.

Thanks for the info, If somebody isn't helping finance, they don't get a spot on the car. Since our car is white, the panel should work fine...and we should have plenty of room in front of the number panel. If somebody wants to send me the panels I will gladly hang them before we even get to the track. I'll even pay the shipping.

Do you have the window banner and rear decals already?  These are all no charge, just cost of shipping, which is the same if you get the sponsor panels only, or the window banner, number panel patches and  rear class sticker as well.   Link to the site to order:

Most of the stickers have just peeled off.  There have been a few that left the glue or glue/paper behind.  I have some PPG DX-440 wax and grease remover that does well taking off that junk.  I've had it a long time have no idea if u can even still buy it.

I splurged on shipping for the decal kit.  It's on the car and looks good.
