Special thanks to Third Gear Pulls and Team Misfire ... not only fun racing friends but damn good people if you're in a pinch ...

Special sorry to both teams as well, their misfortunes allowed the turtle #270 to finish second.

We'll take it though! :)

Lastly Black Pearl from Saskatchewan ... great getting to know you in the 6hr tech line Friday! So sorry for the ride home after your issues. Get home safe and hope to be in tech purgatory with you any time.

We had a great time!  The car preformed fantastically.  It must have been someone with investments brake pad manufacturing that put all those slow turns at the bottom of the hills at Road America. ?  Great clean racing by everyone. And once again great work from the Chumpcar staff!

What an awesome facility and great group of people to hang out with this weekend. We were in the Mustang that had every bad electrical issue that you could possibly have. Appreciated everyone stopping by and offering advice or anything to get us on the track. We did end up overcoming all of the issues and the car ran fairly well, just a couple of tweaks and we will see you in a month at Autobahn!

As one of the volunteers at this event pits 35-40. I would like to say everyone was doing a great job staying safe and having fun.  A shout out to the #612 for a great 1st event and finishing both days.  Nice to see new faces and old this weekend.  Thanks for working well with everyone.  Especially when everyone in my area decided mid race to pit one stall to the left.  Chumpcar staff is great to work with and I will continue to enjoy this series.   I look forward to racing with some of these teams come July at BIR.  Thanks

Flew back home today, after having what was probably the best racing weekend in 20+ years.  I have been dreaming of driving this track since the late 80s or early 90s.  Sometimes the dream is worth the wait, but many times it isn't.  This was one that didn't disappoint.  A lot of the credit goes to Scott and John of JSK Racing (car #176).  They are two of the nicest guys you could ever hope to drive for.  I was their first ever renter, so I may have created some anxiety for them at moments, but if I did it never showed.

For those of you out there in Chumpland that might have this track on your list but haven't made the long haul up there yet, here are the reasons you should (IMHO):

  • The track is amazing.  Long.  Fast.  Challenging.
  • The corner stations are all easily seen (think the complete opposite of Road Atlanta) and some are supplemented with lights to make it even easier to do the right thing
  • The corner workers are GOOD.  As good as VIR, and are really good with the passing flag in particular
  • Elkhart Lake is an immersive experience (yes, you must stay at the Lake).  Every restaurant has at least some if not a lot of racing photos on the wall.  It is like Watkins Glen, but even better.
  • The people are just really nice.  They are laid back and just super friendly.
  • The souvenir store at the track is awesome.  Cool vintage racing posters, lamps made out of cams, etc.
  • The pit lane is crazy long.  No double or triple stacking in the pits like VIR south
  • The elevation is better than it looks on TV
  • They RARELY go to full course yellow and do an incredible job of pulling cars off the track that get into trouble.

I will post videos later this week.  Thank you to Chump staff, volunteers, all of the crew at JSK and our sister team (Lusty Rotus), and all of the other drivers.  I can't wait to drive this track again!!!

I just posted some pics on my team FB page - sorry If I didn't get your car.  I'm no pro.  Just a great weekend, very good driving by almost everyone I was around on track.  Perfect weather to be in a race car as well.   Thanks to the Chump Staff for a great job, and thanks to the Harvey Mushman Stunt Team for having me.  Sorry if we got in anyone's way - we lost fourth gear early on Saturday, had an occasional fuel starvation issue appear right away and ran that way the rest of the weekend.  We  managed to keep it running and turn enough laps to finish 2nd in class A on Sunday...so it was worth it.   BIG thanks to 3rd Gear Pulls for saving our butt with some donated wheel spacers.

Close but not cigar, 8 Ball racing is from Saskatchewan, and yes it was a nice way to spend the afternoon chatting with you guys, you guys definitely added to the fun value for the weekend, waving to each other on the from stretch and in the pits too. BTW the decal did stay on :)

Sorry for the late reply, but we just backed into the drive way and unloaded. yes we are that far away from RA.

It was great weekend, lots of close door to door racing with Low Farm Racing #241 and Penguin racing #171 and others too.  We had a blast so thanks to all you ( Volunteers, Staff and Racers) for the week end.

Hey, thank you for stopping by and checking on us and offering the couple of performance shops near by to get our fuel pump. We now have a spare in the trailer!

Despite having issues we still can't really figure out most of the weekend, Third Gear Pulls(white CRX with purple and teal livery) team is still very pleased. We finally feel like we have pace to be a competitive team. We would like to thank all the teams who had given us advice over the weekend. And thanks to JSK for redoing our Rollcage for the race.

Our weekend ended early with bad misfiring issues and what seems to be a failed oil pump. Could have gone out to finish the race, but the oil leakage would have gotten worse and we didn't want to slick up the track.

Now it is time to rebuild and add a couple more improvements.

See you all next time!!

We had a great time at Road America, as always.  We had a bit of bad luck Friday and Saturday, but would like to thank all of the teams that helped lend us parts to keep us on the track.

We met plumb crazy... Just some bad luck there.

And we also hit a deer.

Looking forward to October.
