Seat for Bigger drivers

Recommended Posts

I currently have a Momo seat that came with the car. It's in good condition but is really tight in the waist and doesn't fit my wide shoulders( I am 6'2" 230lbs 38" waist) , and I am built like a football player. I have done some research on potential replacements. Problem there is nobody in a 150 mile radius has any in stock.

I like Corbeau because they seem to be a larger seat, but they do not offer a head restraint (atleast not here in the States see Revenge) Not sure if FIA approved makes a difference (Is that going to be the next rule changes) What are the benefits cloth vs. Vinyl

Sparco Circuit II LF comes in a larger size, i am concerned about the MM to Inches conversion, in the US I wear size 13 shoe, that same shoe is 2 sizes smaller with the euro conversion. It is also close to the price of the Kirkey and Ultrashield for a headrestaint.

BiMarco Grip Cheapest of the headrestraints is FIA approved, but again I am concerned with the Euro sizing inaccuracies.

Sabelt makes larger seats, with head restaints, I couldn't find any sellers in the states.

Of course there are Kirkey and ultrashield. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I am 6' 0" 225 and a 36 inch waist.

I LOVE our Ultrashield rally seat in 17".  I have added some extra padding in certain places between the seat cover and the aluminum.  It REALLY Makes the seat super customizable and comfy.

I think they sell head containment system that bolts onto the seat as well.

The seat is easy to fit into a small car as well.

Drove a car with the Bimarco containment seat in a foxbody at Daytona. I'm 5'10 225 lbs 38" waist and found it to be just as comfortable as the OMP in our BMW. I shared the car with 2 other drivers that are at/over 6' and in a similar weight range as myself and everyone was comfortable. Seems to be a very rigid seat as well. I was amazed at the quality for the money.

Did you use a 6point or 5point belt?

I will fully endorse the Bimarco. I am smaller than you, but our bigger and taller drivers don't have an issue with the seat.

Yeah, Rich is right at 6' and has at least 20 lbs on the OP. Even for skinny guys (me) the seat works. Contact Harrison Motorsports in Alpharetta, GA. They have one in stock nearly at all times.

6ft, 270ish.. yep, I fit in it.  Only thing I didn't like was the way they made the knee bolsters.  We pulled our's out, had a seamstress do a bit of work and now they're usable.

The biggest issue we have with the BiMarco is that even though it's technically a halo seat, the halo is not as close to the driver's helmet as it is in other seats.

Call David or Cherie at Harrison Motorsports in Georgia.  They're both ChumpCar racers, make sure you tell them the John Allen Special guys sent you.  David will get you the best pricing he can.
