Guest Brent Picasso
As some of you heard, in Portland we first tested the tweeting capabilities of our race car. If you're a techie you might find this fun:/>http://www.autosportlabs.net/Tweeting_Race_Carthe feed:/>http://twitter.com/ASL_LabRat1(you should paste these URLs in a new browser window since the forum here opens links inside the frame and it's a bit messed up)While we had a very short amount of time to develop it's capabilities, it worked better than I feared and provided some interesting information during the event! We were happy to see that the lap times were within a few tenths of official time, despite the probable rounding errors and the crude approach we used.V2 of the tweeting car will offer more fun (and useful) things, more interactivity (e.g. tweet at the car and it will 'do' things), and of course, we'll program it with a bigger personality
Guest TroubleOnWheels
This is amazing, good job guys! Any chance your car can fix our live timing?
Bongle
That's really cool. I wrote an app for an $80 GPS-enabled palmpilot to do laptiming last year, and I think I'll move to the android platform for next season so we can get a bit of web integration. We're hoping to get live-ish feedback to the pits as the car goes around, so the radioman can tell the driver where he's leaving time on the table or pushing the car too hard. Guest Brent Picasso
Thanks!I agree- the android platform offers a ton of potential- we're planning on using it to integrate with our Megajolt Ignition system + future devices (launch control, piggy back fuel injector controller, sensor remapper, etc) to enable very low cost 'digital dash' and tuning apps. It's also spurred thoughts that it's now within grasp to have low cost, real-time telemetry - stuff that the big race teams have enjoyed for a long time. Yeah, I love mooshing technology, software and motorsports together. What can I say
Guest weezilusa
That is really cool that you did that... Had no idea the car had a mind of its own!
oddcarnut
Brent,That's bloody fantastic. At first pass it seems over the top for our crappy can races, but really does fit into the overall picture in a delightfully insane way. So when will the package deals for fellow Chumsters become available???
