Kentite
For our team and I'm sure many others out there racing is a big expense. I'd love to be a able to secure some sponsor money to help offset costs and hopefully be able to afford more races every year. So how does it work? I have no idea how much to charge or the scale on which to charge it. If I'm going to take a company's marketing money does the team need to be incorporated so the sponsor can deduct the expense? What is a good way to measure return on investment? I have some ideas on local businesses that could benefit from exposure anywhere we would run, so I can sell that. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
TiredBirds
We have asked when buying parts, explain hey we race in this or that league. There are X amount of cars like ours, if you give us a discount we'll put your stickers on out car. We got a really good deal from BIGBRAKEUPGRADE.com and in return we put 4 stickers on our car and one on the dash for the cam. PLUS it is a GREAT kit. If we have any more major upgrades I'll be doing the same!
Bremsen
Getting sponsors interested usually takes a ton of time and investment long before [most] will consider you. They need to know you'll be out promoting....at the race track, on forums, on social media etc their product in a positive light. Most of the time that is going to require a good bit of that self promotion before you will want to approach a prospective sponsor seriously. We've gotten a lot of help on parts costs simply from various connections in the auto industry. Buying a bunch of stuff from the same shop or just "knowing a guy". I do hope one day, with a successful race record and some self promotion online, we can find a sponsor to help the team financially. I think those deals in our series are pretty slim....it would be awesome though.

Yes to the above, we explained where we race, what leagues, explained the video shoots... and again this isn't free stuff, we still had to pay for it, just at a reduced rate.
