Z06LOL
Just out of curiosity how many of you have reserved your room for barber? Hampton Inn was $400 which is $150 higher than last year, just curious if anyone else was quoted this.
dogtired
That's insane. We usually stay in the Collonade area. $130 ish
Turd Ferguson
We booked rooms right outside the track (Hampton Inns Leeds) a month ago for ~$109-ish a night. Winds up being $135 a night after tax, another tax, and yet another tax on a previous tax. That's odd the price jumped almost $70 a night in one month
Hunterflyy
Pell City has some newer hotels. It's about 30m East of the track.
dogtired
There are condos on a lake 30 miles east. Nice too. 15 miles west is Birmingham, good food, nice hotels reasonably priced.
JDChristianson
We have a house rented via AirBnb in Birmingham that should only be about 20 min
Mopar 4 Life
What area does my team need to book in order to be walking distance to the better bars and such?

Colonnade area (280) has a few places to eat nearby that you can walk to, Black Market Bar is right there, and in the morning it's a 15 min ride to the track. You can stay downtown Birmingham in the 5 points area to be around a bunch of bars if you'd like, about 20-25 mins from the track. Anywhere else in Birmingham I don't think I would recommend. Most of the hotels on 280 will be within driving distance and possibly walking distance to eateries or bars. We have uber/lyft here in town and never have surge pricing if you really want to go exploring. Avondale is a good place to get some great food and has a bunch of great bars around. Feel free to message me with any questions you guys might have about certain hotels or other areas of town. I live right by the Colonnade area and have lived in Birmingham for 30+ years. Happy to help anyone who needs it. Edited November 1, 2017 by Jab31169

dogtired
I highly recommend The Black Market bar. Food is decent for a pub and the beer is cold..... and they have trivia nights.
Jer
I'm staying at the rat trap outside the entrance , America's Worst. It's like $60 a night. My wife said to keep my feet off the floor when possible.

Smart woman, might sleep on top of the sheets as well, best not to disturb the bed bugs
Jer
I was thinking of staying on Troy's trailer like at AMP, but that turned out to be a miserable experience. Barber might be colder!!

Jab31169
From what I've heard, not bad, they have power hook ups on the second level of the paddock. I dont know if they will have the actual RV part open or not. Should be pretty quiet out there once everyone gets settled in.
zack_280
My wife is staying in Trussville at a Hampton Inn. I booked it tonight. It was $101 with taxes for the prepaid in full rate. Some stuff nearby. Only ~6 minutes from the track exit on I20. I'll be staying in the hauler on Friday. Depending on how things go Saturday, I'll either be staying with her or in the fart box, er, I mean hauler with the rest of the team. As far as camping, I think you can use a gas grill in the paddock and charcoal in the camping area...Or maybe I got that backwards. I think you can get power from the pit outlets for a nominal fee. Jab31169
Trussville isn't bad, couple of good places to eat.

Yeah...there are several watering holes up that way as well and it's an easy drive to the track.

I camp there all the time and have for years, like stated other responses there is 30 and 50 amp power on the 2nd and 3rd levels (15/20 also), and 20 and 50 along the hot pit wall if you have an extension cord long enough to reach across the cold pit and through the fence to your rig but it takes a lengthy cord. No issues, I prefer that to driving in and out. I have never stayed in the RV parking lot across the road from the paddock but it looks nicely equipped. JDChristianson
How about, a place to stash our trailer Thursday night? Pretty sure there's not trailer parking where we are staying. Can we drop it at the track?
Jab31169
They might let you drop it at the temporary staging area at barber...but I think that's between the track and Chump. If they wont, how big of trailer we talking? I might have room or can find you some room.
