Full Chumpcast Live!

For Christmas this year we're getting you an awesome weekend at Barber!
Christmas is fast approaching.  To avoid all the stress of shopping, let's go racing!  There's plenty of time to get that perfect gift on Christmas Eve.  Read on to get the info to make your trip to Barbera smooth one.

Friday Staging - Barber has rented their track to another customer on Friday so we'll have to do tech and registration outside of the main paddock.  When you arrive, please go to Lot C (see MAP).
Gates - Gates open at noon on Friday.

Paddock - The paddock is first come first served, but (and I shouldn't have to say this) try to take up no more than one lane wide.  Teams that sprawl out to a space 30 feet wide and 50 feet deep for one car will be asked to move.  It's just common courtesy for the other 64 teams that need to paddock as well.

Tech - If you have not had your annual tech for 2017, bring your car through the tech line along with all your paperwork filled out.  Make sure you have read the rules.  Swap cars with no paperwork will likely be put in EC unless tech is in a good mood.

Registration -
If you are already tech'd, bring your yellow logbook directly to registration.  Before you arrive, log in and check your driver roster for accuracy.  Make any corrections ahead of time.  If you are paid with the correct drivers, check-in is a 3 minute process.  If you are not coming (work issue, car issue, etc), email me to let me know you will not be there.

Novice School - 6pm, location TBA.

Pit Assignments - Here are your pit assignments.
Sunday Quiet Hour - Alabama has a mandatory quiet hour on Sunday from 11am to noon.  We will pause the race during this time.  For our procedure on that see this document
Finally - The weather has turned cold so for this event you are allowed to add up to 10% antifreeze to your radiator.  Also, while we should be done before it gets dark, it would be wise if all teams had some sort of lights ready to install in the trailer.  You may want them if it is cloudy and/or rainy.
A reminder: read through and print out the Supplemental Rules for this event here.
If you have any questions about registration, please contact Chelsey Vickery here.  Any other questions you can contact me here.

We're looking forward to seeing you all in AL!

10-4, Thanks for the info

No work on the car, usually all that is allowed is get the driver in and out and mess with the cameras and maybe cool suit ice but I don't think that will be a problem for this race.  Are y'all ready to go?  We worked on our car a little Saturday, found out we had a failing clutch at AMP.  Hopefully Clutchmasters warranties it and gets it back here asap.  By the way, I asked Mike if he would put all of us local guys close together so we can harass each other.

Will be at Barber's this weekend at the PBOC event shaking down the car, anyone else showing up?  I know wyatt might be around breaking track records.

I have no clutch in the car, so I may ride over Saturday just to check on everybody.

So...this is our first ChumpCar (ChampCar) race of 2017, and I need to buy some number panels.

Can I run the 2018 number panels or do I have to run the 2017 version?  Can the 2017 version still be purchased?  RVA's website only lists the 2018 version...

I'm sure 2018 panels will be fine, but I have that question into Mike to make sure...

Any idea when the gates will open?

For our event, typically 5pm Friday.  However, the last two races at Barber tech was set up Friday afternoon in either Lot G or the lot north of turn 2 as we waited for the Porsche school to finish up for the day.
