Congrats to Huggins and everybody else.

Had fun, good friends/teamwork, good practice ,some agriculture but no spins, camera worked all day, never lifted the hood and a top 5 :P

Thank you Champ staff for a smooth event and Discovery parts for the racer discount!

An excellent day at a difficult track.

 Next up, Daytona.

Did not go well for us - second race on a new (to us) engine and it blew during practice.  No warning at all - pulling strong, slight stutter, ka-bang.  Long haul for nothing =( but such is life.  Trying to work out our plan of action now.  With daytona coming up, we may just buy a cheap reman, bolt it in, and hope for the best.

The carnage, so far:

We haven't taken it apart yet to see what the failure was, but definitely slung a rod into the oil pan.

If anyone has any video of either the engine exploding or my spin during practice, we'd love to see it!  Hopefully see y'all at Daytona.

I remember there being some concern about “overbooking”.  Looks like only 84 cars completed a lap, so Mike was on top of things as others suggested.

About 79 actually started and the rest trickled onto the track. Of particular interest to me was the short-lived racing of a certain Subaru BRZ prepping for an AER race.... hopefully the car is okay and they wisely decided to save it for their actual race. There might be some green font implied.

I watched most of this race through Facebook/YouTube. Really awesome coverage @Bill Strong, @Doc, @Paulie !!

Laying by a pool, on vacation, watching a race... doesn’t get much better than that!

Fun to watch the changing leaders, heatbreaking breakdowns, and fast cars nipping at the leaders’ heels all day! Really great driving, too, and so few FCY!

Awesome weekend all around. Thanks to Champcar staff and volunteers!

Congratulations to the winners - it was fun racing with you when we weren't stopping to refuel. I didn't hear mention of stupid driving from any of my drivers.

Whoever came up with the test day rules should get a raise. Two sessions with point bys let us get good information without the threat of someone making an unexpected appearance.

Heartbreaking to see the only Ford out before the race starts. Hope you get to see the checker at Daytona.

We finished, barely.

Melted our way through some brand new $$ front brake pads in under 7 hours, had to replace a caliper, and put in some el cheapo pads to finish the race. Gonna have to give this some more thought.

Thanks and big time congrats to Ed at Team Infinite. RcF1

I had a fun time driving the Not Banned Yet #307 this weekend. It was a fun turn of pace from my E30s!

I started the race and opened up a pretty decent lead before the Power steering went out totally around 20 or so minutes in. Shortly after that I was passing that white Trans Am/Camaro on the outside under the bridge down to 12. The car gave me room initially and then just tracked into the RR of the car as if they didn't know I was there. Which put in a few extra degrees of camber and some toe.

After that incident I thought the driving was excellent by all involved. Definitely a great and exciting race at the end. We went from 2nd to the lead after the Saab had an issue before our second wheel bearing of the day put us out of contention for the podium.

Still had a great time with everyone at Ballenger Motorsports. Very fun car to drive! Just wish it wasn't so cold!

Congrats to my buddies at Huggins Racing. Yes, there was merciless teasing aimed my way, probably took a shot at me in the post race interview too haha!

I'll catch you guys next time ;)

Congrats to Huggins for a great race and the win and to the other podium teams and class winners. :D

InActiv Motorsports was running a pretty strong race. We were losers in the pit stall draw, in stall 18 while stall 20 was randomly picked for grid up starting position. We were the last stall before the Ickx cars, so started out in 79th position and had worked our way up to P17. We got our renters in the car early and were working on our fuel cushion through the first several stints to conserve time for later in the race. We had a strong driver line up to finish the race and expected a pretty solid gain in our average lap times barring any mechanical issues. We lost 3rd and 4th gears in the trans around 9 hours. With only 5 hours left, our renters done for the day, and the sun about to set, we decided to call it a race and head out for a nice hibachi dinner at Ninja.

We also live-streamed our feed to YouTube. First time we've done this and we have the entire race on video from start to disappointing finish. My stint starts at ~6:40 and ends at ~8:41, it includes one instance of my going into T10 too hot and too tight and sliding it up and into the gravel (no damage to the car other than a few nicks). Not sure if anybody else noticed, but was getting greasy out there mid-late afternoon after the sun had been out for a few hours. After my stint, there is some entertaining footage from our last driver.

YouTube apparently won't allow that link to embed, it's easily found on our YouTube page.

See everybody at Daytona in April. We hope to be bringing out a new (second) car.

Yeah, this was a major bummer for us - we were super confident we had the car completely sorted out and running better than ever.  Every race we've entered, we've broken something minor but fixed it and kept going.  The original engine laster ~180 race hours and was still running when we pulled it out - this one lasted about eight hours.  Never expected that =(

Excited for Daytona.  We really want to beat Inactive Motorsports since they also run a nearly forgotten 4-door family car!

You will have better results trying another clean, used engine.

You think so?  The engine we blew here 'only' had 128k on it when we swapped it in.  Literally had no sign it was going bad until it exploded.  What do you guys look for in an engine?  I'm scared of anything used as contours are kinda the 'buy it and just drive it until it dies' kind of car - no oil changes or basic maintenance kind of things.

=) definitely looking forward to it.  We saw top speeds of 125 per our gps speedo last year.  We're a v6, but y'all were way faster than us at sebring last year...which may have prompted my complete suspension rebuild during the winter!

Is that still a B class car then?  We have a 2.0, 4 cylinder.  it makes ok power, its got nothing for those motor swapped civics though.

No, we're C class - 2.5L.  But you guys are still faster than we are.

Great weekend for our team, had a blast!  Ended up in p18 after 14 hours. Lots of hard work by our team and our renters paid off for our 3rd top 20 finish in 3 races. When I'm not totally wiped out I'll post a full summary of our event. Thanks to all for a great event.

PS: Missed having tiffany on the broadcast
