Final Email

It's been two years, but the wait is worth it.  It's time to race at Charlotte Motor Speedway!

We last raced at Charlotte in 2016.  Since that time CMS has done a little more re configuring of the infield and oval course.  NASCAR will be running this configuration this fall!  If you haven't raced here before, you're in for a treat.  CMS is a blast and under the lights it's surreal.  Read on to get some event details to help make your trip easier.

Gates - Gates open at Noon on Friday.

Paddock - The paddock will be the Xfinity garage area.  Teams without a garage will paddock on the North side of the garage.  Your space is one parking spot as outlined by the white lines.  18 wheelers park in here so there should be enough room for your stuff.  Teams with a garage will park on the South side of the garage in front of their garage spot.  Parking space is outlined by the white lines.  See map here.

Camping - If you would like to tent camp or camp in your RV off your own generator, there is no charge.  RV's will be allowed in the paddock, but they must fit within your one designated parking spot.  If you would like to hook your RV up to power and water, the paid RV lot behind the infield care center will be open.  The cost is $60 for the weekend and is payable to Charlotte at the gate when you arrive.  They will give you a pass to display.  If security finds RVs without the pass displayed in the RV lot, they will charge you.

Tech - If you have not had your 2018 annual tech yet, bring your car through the tech bay in the Xfinity garage when you arrive.  Bring all your paperwork filled out.  Make sure you have read the rules (good news - no changes from 2017).  Swap cars with no paperwork will likely be put in EC unless tech is in a good mood.

Registration -
Make sure you tech first, then bring your yellow logbook and tech sheet signed by us directly to registration.  Before you arrive, log in and check your driver roster for accuracy.  Make any corrections ahead of time.  If you are paid with the correct drivers, check-in is a 3 minute process.  If you are not coming (work issue, car issue, etc), email me to let me know you will not be there.

Novice School - 5pm Friday, location TBD.

Pit Assignments - Here are your pit assignments.

Garage Assignments - Here are your garage assignments.  Garages will be locked at 10pm on Friday night.  Paddock will remain open 24/7.

Lights - We'll be racing for at least four hours in the dark, so headlights/taillights are required for this event.  Make sure they work and are aimed properly.

Saturday Night -  After the race, you can camp in the paddock and/or leave your trailer until Sunday morning.  Everyone needs to be out by 11am Sunday though.

A reminder: read through and print out the Supplemental Rules for this event here.

If you have any questions about registration, please contact Andrea Chisek here.  Any other questions you can contact me here.

We're looking forward to seeing you all in Charlotte!

Can I get some information on the garages?  Do we need to reserve one? Can we camp in our tow vehicle next to our garage, or do we have to move like at Daytona? If we need to move, can I get some info on camping?  Thanks!

45 garages available. Sign up for the garage when you register. or if you already have signed up, email Mike at mike.chisek@champcar.org
no room for RVs in the paddock. Only race trailers in there.
RV camping outside paddock in the RV area. no charge for that unless you need hookups where we think that you may have to pay the track. we need to check the contract.

hope that helps

If we arrive in Charlotte Thursday evening can we camp in an RV somewhere on the Speedway grounds or are we only able to enter at noon on Friday?

I'm planning on camping out in the lot we stage in. That's the one next to the back stretch tunnel. I doubt they mind...

I've never been to Charlotte so I have no clue where we stage or where to enter or where official infield RV camping is located.  Might you (or anyone) have a map indicating these locations.  Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks in advance.

We stage and enter the track through the backstretch tunnel. Pretty easy to find.

Awesome you are coming. How did I miss you on the entry list????

This was in the official email: RV's will be allowed in the paddock, but they must fit within your one designated parking spot.

Yeah, leave it to me to never read instructions.

Wait, I would not have gotten the official email, so now I don't feel so bad.

Sent official email to your email...
