Those are fast! Glad it's so far away, won't have to loose to it ;)

We were just talking about the Maxima a couple days ago. Yeah, I'm glad it's far away, otherwise I might be tempted to buy it

@Chummy The last car we sold we met the buyer half way, so that is always an option.

Also @red0 is correct, with good driving it could be that fast! Also, having better tires makes a huger difference. At BIR we finally broke down and got a set of good Dunlap tires. Wow that really woke up the car! At our last Road America race just we run some cheaper, much harder tires all around. If no one buys this car, You'll see me in your mirror again at Road America's turn 1 and 5 for sure! :P

Federal 959 tires (not the RR). We actually ran the Federals on the rear. It really helped the balance of the car. Each driver described the car different, one said it had slight over steer, the other said a bit of under steer. So I guess it depends on your driving style, but I'd say car is really balanced right now.

I can corroborate his story. Car can be made to be fast! GLWS. Somebody buy it before someone like JSK does...

also @Chummy you race with @KSRD up here in Canada? Beware!

I'm about wrapped up with all my real estate projects and probably going to either build a car or buy one for the southern races that ksr D does not make. I already have a 97 that I was thinking about building because of the points valuation on it. What is the points valuation on this car for sale?

Bump* In the last few weeks, we had several people contact us, from tire kickers to very serious. But* the car is still for sale.
I would like to start building our next race car. We'd hate to come to your track and beat you with this Maxima. You should buy it and beat us :)

Base points now at 500pts with new VPI.  Swap the rear sway bar back to stock and run with no laps.

Yeah that is super awesome to be at the 500 point mark now! The 5th gen Maxima's never had a sway bar so you would have to just disconnect our adjustable one.

ScottyK that is an evil post.
No really that's your 666th post! HA!

Mike,  you say the car races at 540 points and the base car goes down 20 pts in 2019.  however what about points for

adjustable camber at front end,

Custom intake & exhaust and

Aluminum radiator.

did you not get nicked for those items,  also if you dump the rear sway bar, will you burn off the front tires as it will start to push hard in corners?  Thanks Rob

Slotting the front towers is 0 points for camber.
Intake tubes and filters are open, exhaust after the collector is open
No reason not to just run the stock radiator in this car

You can probably increase the rear spring rate for 0 points to achieve similar handling

** I have no relation to the seller, just trying to point out you can run this car at the 500 points without a problem.

Thanks for the question @mtgmanbob. And @red0 has replied correctly for every point. What we did to the front suspension is similar to the rotating bolt mod where you can add camber in the front. Our intake is 0 points. Plus, we are super proud of our redneck engineered intake. A battery box connected to yard tubes from the hardware store. Also, that aluminum radiator is just the factory aluminum radiator. I think when my co-owner wrote that he didn't know it was a standard item on the car.

We were also thinking how to counter losing the rear sway. First, changing the rear springs like red0 also suggested and I would put slightly harder tire compounds on the rear. 200 in the front and mid 300 on the rear. In this car's first race we didn't have a rear sway bar, and yes the car had some under steer, but was easy to work with. When we got home, we added a rear sway bar because at the time this car's VPi was 400. So the most easiest fix was adding a adjustable rear sway bar. Since installed, it has lived the middle or lightest setting.

This car is still available. We had one buyer ready to pick it up and a day before his friend/co-owner backed out so he couldn't make the purchase. While that is a bummer, we understand that can happen. But it would be nice to have this car gone, we have already started building 3rd chamcar. :)

Man, if this car goes any lower I may buy it for a spare...!

@red0 is right. Ditch the sway bar and find stiffer springs.

Lets be clear here, you will need to work to get it to corner, but not many cars will touch it on the straights. *not many non-cheaty cars at least!! 😂

I was thinking the same thing, at this price its almost worth keeping it for a solid backup car. Now I'd only have to find a spot to hide it from the wife

You right with the RSB, it car can corner now to the point is almost too loose (sorry "over steer" - darn nascar dna!) But it would be easy and a good learning exercise for a new owner working to getting it back to neutral in the corner when you detach the rear sway bar.

Here is an old video from the fall Road America race in 2016, the first year we had this car. In this race the car has hard 360utqg rated tires and no rear sway bar. The biggest thing you can tell from this video is that I'm having fun and not over driving the car. Which is good, because its's an endurance race :)
