Most comfortable seat for racing?

I have been running an Ultrasheild rally seat in my car.

I thought it was very comfortable....

I recently drove another car with one of the sparco seats in it....   OMGWTFBBQ.  I got out of the car after driving 2 stints in the same day and was fresh as a daisy.

It got me thinking...  What if there is something even better?  What if I can get the same comfort for less than 900$?

So, what say you?  What is the most comfortable seat for the money?

Thanks,

Rob R.

We have Sparco Circuit 2's in both of our cars. I've always thought they are very comfortable.

We had an OMP HTE-R in our first car (300ZX). I like the Sparco better. Although I think that's also because we had an "XL" HTE, and the Sparco fits me better.

I haven't sat in a great many seats, but the OMP HTE-R 400 in Jerry's Miata at Nelson was the best so far.  I'm even a fat guy and liked it.  My next car will have something along those lines.....FAR better than my Ultrashield.

What type or model of ultrasheild?

I will say the biggest factor we have found is fit. We had a Momo seat and the small guys loved it, big guys hated being squeezed in it. Now we have a 16" Kirkey and the small guys hate it, and the big guys love it. The aluminum seats seem to offer way more headroom when both are mounted on the floor, FWIW.

Also the full containment seats offer safety while seated but are a huge PITA for ingress/egress compared to non containment seats.

We too have the OMP HTE-R 400 in our Miata and I have never tired of it. Still comfortable on a 4 hour drive home no problem. Very similar but slightly more comfortable than the Sparco Ergo in my much faster car.

Not a ton of experience here but compared to a few sparcos and OMPs I and a few other drivers like our ultrashield spec Miata seat (in a bmw). It is very small and snug, I think 14in. The seat is comfortable for 2 reasosns, it's positioning in the car (angle etc) and the fact that the seat holds the body at the hips and torso likr a kar seat would such that the harnesses are for safety only.

I also like how easy an aluminum seat is to work with in terms of relatively flexible design in terms of mounting

The Ultrashield Spec Miata seat.  The one with no shoulder support.  I didn't realize how helpful the shoulder supports were would be till I drove in the OMP seat.  Made a huge difference.  And being a big guy, the sides of the Ultra just dug into my ribs in a weird spot.  But it fit in my Miata with limited trans tunnel modification and it was cheap so it was a good start.

I sat in a guys Kirkey 47 (or maybe 65) which was pretty nice too if you want to stay aluminum.

Have the UltraShield in my Miata, but went with Sparco QRT-R for E30. E30 still in build process but i have been in it while the cage fitting activities were going on and it feels more comfortable than the US. Plus, it weighs right around what a the Sparco CF seats weigh at a fraction of that price..

I run a Kirkey Alum Road Race seat. Very comfortable. I am thinking not having shoulder support is not helping your comfort level. You are using other muscles keeping you in the correct position. Remember Spec Miata drivers usually are only in the car for 30 mins.

Tried Sparco Evo 2s for a while, they were decent.  Tried a Sparco Pro ADV but it was just an EVO with head wings.  Ended up buying a OMP HTE 400 and I've never looked back.  I've spent 10+ hours in the car between Stages and transits, and the only thing I wish it had was some sort of anti-wedgie gadget.......

Sometimes, once the undies have ridden up, nothing but a prybar will get them back down knowhatimsayin......

Seriously though.  Driven cars with kirkeys, racetechs, ultrashields, and my OMP is still my favorite.

I'm 6' 2", 200#.

I will add something to this conversation - manufacturer data would indicate the momo daytona XL is very close to the same size as the OMP HTE-R XL, but this is not the case. The Momo is a good inch narrower or more. I think the momo XXL might be similar, but they're hard to get, I have the XL in my car and fits me fine (175 lbs) but for someone well over 200 it might get quite tight.

I've sat in both, and both are very comfortable but the bottom cushion padding leaves a little to be desired in the momo as someone mentioned. I may try to add a little under the stock pad.

Bumping this thread back to life.  Going to go sit in a OMP HTE-R 400 tomorrow, perhaps bring it home.  Any other 5' 10" 240 #'ers racing in one of those?  How about tall drivers, Have a team mate that is like 6' 5" I think.

Thanks!

Did you end up choosing a seat. I am 5’10 and 230 looking for a seat
