Would having flashing lights be acceptable? I'm thinking something like the LeMans cars have where they flash their lights for a slower car to notify them that they are behind them. Would this be helpful or just annoying?

That’s annoying and not needed IMO.

I think I saw GWR do something like that in a race once.. It was raining and they had a single headlight on and as he approached a much slower car he manually blinked the light. I don't have a problem with something like this, but I might cut the wires on your lights in the paddock if you set them up to flash constantly or have a ton of watts in them.

At this level of racing I think an over abundance of jack-assery will get you accidentally in the grass during a passing situation.

Yikes.  So its OK to punt someone off the track, but not OK flash your lights at someone who is slower in an attempt to confirm that they know you're coming?  Somehow your definition of Jack-assery is different than mine.

What care are you in so we know to leave you a wide berth?

I'll take the flashing lights any day over a car that suddenly appears at my door mid corner,  or the slower car who is oblivious.  I don't read the original post as if the lights flash continuously, only done when approaching a slower car.

I’ve seen this done by a few cars and have done it myself.  It is fine as long as it is a manual thing (continuous would be silly, as is already stated here).  I do it in questionable visibility situations because our car is black and can be hard to see.

You misunderstand me.  My comment "this level of racing" refers to the fact that many if not most of the racers in this series are amateurs that are not nearly as disciplined to ignore distractions such as flashing lights.  You start flashing a slow car with what is most likely a very amateur driver who is already at their limit for distraction and you may accidentally get a visit to the grass.  Don't make people nervous in the car you are passing...
