Pit Number Board/ Pit Box Sign

So for the past 4 seasons we have been holding out a beat up white board with a taped "146" on the sign to get the drivers attention coming into the pit.

Its a bit past time to upgrade to something better.

Anyone have ideas or experiences with what they made this out of?

Current plan is some sort of thin aluminum panel with a pool cleaning pole or a extendable painting pole to hold it up?

Is it a good idea to attach it to the easy up instead of holding it for each pit stop?

What about one of those promotional sail-boat type flags?

I'm looking for the same type of thing.  I was thinking something like this with a metal sign, shoulder bolt for swivel action, two nuts and two fender washers to attach it to the eye.

We just wave our green catchcan.  Prolly should update that...

We use the broom, it's already got a handle/pole and is always in the pits.

I like efficiency, why bring another thing? The more purposes something serves the better.

I made one out of a long PVC pipe (Home Depot) and some hard card with bright yellow signage on each side.  Every 3 years or so I have to do it again because the corrugated hard card final gets bad enough.

Is that just a stick of 1/2" metal conduit?

1/2" metal Conduit. I made the sign out of just a piece of ABS plastic found at Home Depot. Drilled a hole in it and used a plastic bushing, bolt and washers with a wing nut so it's very mobile. That one was double-sided with the car colors before old 80 was demo'ed at Sebring a few years ago. It has the old Spyker colors on the other side with JAS symbol.

I'd recommend not attaching to the tent. Tends to turn when the wind blows and its a nuisance to other teams when you keep it up.

Gonna get these printed up about 24x24 if that sounds about the right size?

Now to find a sturdy but non-obtrusive pole of some sort.  Aluminum conduit maybe.  Does 8 feet seem like enough?

We taped a Stella case to a coat hanger? That seems to work lol

We use a regular telescoping paint pole found at Lowes/HD/etc.  Its about 5' when not in use and about 9' extended.
