Triangle42
What are yall using for a fuel over flow during pit stops? I am trying to prevent the "Oh Sh!t" moment that I see a lot of teams have when someone does not let the jug down quite quick enough. I do not have this issue on my current car but on my new build I can not do the same setup and am looking for other options. Do you have a reason not to use something like this mounted below the filler neck with a hose to a spare fuel jug? If I connect to the filler neck and mount this lower than the fueling area it should start coming out of this before if passes the filler hose in the neck and if the renter does not lower the jug quick enough it will help catch the overflow and direct it to a jug as well as draining the car back down to a safe level before removing the hose??? We use a basic truck size air hose female disconnect teed to the factory tank vent to fill neck line. The original plan was a separate catch bottle, but in use, it simply is a male end connected to a 90, then hose, drooped over fender into catch pan. We still have the oh crap its too full moments but it sure does fill fast.
Triangle42
Have you ever thought of sliding a hose over your last jugs hose to match the size of the cars filler neck OD? I would think that this would force the fuel out the overflow and not out the filler neck? almost simulating a "dry brake" or one of the deflector shields on the gas pumps at stations. Our hose already fits pretty snugly, a outside seal of some sort may help where fuel comes out around the cap threads, but we manage it well enough to send as is. 11 minutes ago, Triangle42 said: How far below the filler neck did you mount the fitting? The vent starts lower @ the tank top level but connects above the top of everything (package tray)
