I am still in the hospital and have at least 12 days left. Covid. I was a coin flip to live when I came in.  I’m on the mend but it’s not over.  Anyway, I have decided I will not run again.  It has become more tedious and less fun for me.  Losing Doc was a huge blow but beyond that I’m reevaluating my whole life right now. I’ve offered up to stay on a Treasurer moving forward because I love this org , the racers and all the people involved. It will be up to the Board if they want to retain me as Treasurer. If they don’t that’s fine too.  There are some fine people running who j believe will advance the series and make it even better!

I want to thank all the members for their support and votes in the past. It’s been an honor to serve and I appreciate all of you.  I still plan to race next year, although this experience has taught me to change my priorities.  Two-three races at just my very favorite tracks!  ☺️  Life is short.  Smell the roses.

Glad that you are on the mend and hope the lasting impact is minimal for you.  Lots of life left soak it in.

I appreciate the time and effort you've put into the Champcar organization.

I don’t know ultimately if I will have perm damage but it doesn’t matter.  I may never climb another 14er but I will have my life.  I will adapt.  And who knows maybe I do make a full recovery.  I’m exactly two weeks in the icu with two more likely, but I will survive. The poor nurses here have only had three survivals this month including me.  My nurse told me this morning that she just can’t keep putting people in body bags.  Made me cry for them.  But I will be ok.  For that I am so grateful.  Everything is different.  I know what’s important now.  I’m trying to look at this as ultimately a great thing to happen.  It will impact every decision I make going forward.  I was going to work to 67 or 70.  Now, less than four more years.  Before I’m 62 I will be done working.  And I can’t wait to have an Irish car bomb with you guys at the lodge next May.

@Jer Hoping for a full recovery for you. We surely appreciate all that you've done for our organization. Your character shows in your posts and writings. I know we've all appreciated the candor and info sharing you've provided to us.  You'll be missed on the BoD, but the important thing is you'll still be around!

I think it's great that you'd still be willing to serve as the club's Treasurer. I hope that works out.

None of us would wish this upon anybody, but I'm touched and inspired by the fact that you are going to use this experience to count your blessings, and put things into perspective. Best wishes on your journey through recovery and I look forward to meeting in the future, now more than even before.

I hope you and Ed make the Board.  You would both be fine additions.

I couldn't be more pleased hearing you are recovering from this serious situation, it is more then understandable you want to rework priorities. Thank you for offering to stay on as treasurer, I believe we need your skills and dedication here.

With that said, while I have been nominated, and gotten positive feedback on all levels, I have yet to officially toss my hat in the ring. Part of me believes my presence could do this series some good, the other part fears doing so could easily erase the fun.

Understandable. Tyler is a fantastic chair, though, and I would speak to him and Tiffany directly about their experiences, especially lately.  I wouldn’t want you to get elected and not enjoy it.  They can shed some light.  I’ll send you a pm too.

Can you drive with a oxygen bottle........that looks like a rule change to me.

Glad your out!

I canceled all races until next May.  I’ve lost 40 pounds, mostly muscle.  I don’t have the strength to drive a race car right now.  Home PT starts tomorrow.

How often do we get access to the Champcar company jet?

Are they willing to deposit part of the large salary into an off shore account so that I might avoid paying taxes?

And last question, how soon does our special BOD member VPI go into effect?
