FrumRoll
Are the points for heim joints intended to be applied only to suspension components? We used one heim joint to mount our steering column in place and a second to mount our steering shaft. How have the rules typically been applied, do we get hit for the 5pts on both of these items? Technical Advisory Committee mcoppola Posted October 11, 2021 Technical Advisory Committee Report Share Posted October 11, 2021 Although not well defined, the points applied for heims are typically when they are used on suspension components. I believe the rule was originally aimed at tie rod ends and bump steer kits primarily. At any rate, using them to mount a steering column most likely would fall under “driver comfort items” and thus be points free.
FrumRoll
That was my suspicion, thanks for the confirmation. How about if they're tied to suspension components already claimed like a control arm?
